FORT WAYNE — Deanne Rochelle Landes, 28, passed away Jan. 19, 2017, after a long battle with brain cancer and the side effects of chemo and radiation.
She was born in Warsaw on Jan. 16, 1989. She attended Indiana University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She worked at the radio station Star 88.3 for about a year, really enjoyed working there and with all of her colleagues.
She had dreams of being a missionary and enjoyed volunteering with her mom and brothers at Dare to Dream Youth Ranch.
She loved the Lord and truly enjoyed her time at the Christian radio station. Music ran through her and inspired her.
She was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School in 2007. She was active in school and was on the soccer and track teams at WCHS. She was at home on the Warsaw lakes, enjoyed water skiing, wake boarding, snow skiing and many other athletic endeavors. She also enjoyed her family in Iowa, boating on the Mississippi River and frolicking on her grandparents’ farm in Iowa.
She is survived by her mother, Vinette Cornell (step-father Brian Cornell), of Fort Wayne, and her father, Mark Landes (stepmother Ana Sarcia), Warsaw. She also was survived by her older sister, Amanda Landes Gaiziunas (brother-in-law Ramy Gaiziunas), and two brothers, Seth and Bryce Cornell. She is also survived by her grandparents, Donald and Doris Landes and Bruce and Sue Martin, all of Burlington, Iowa. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and loved ones, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Two memorial services are planned: 1 p.m. Feb. 5 at Danville (Iowa) Community Center; and 1 p.m. Feb. 11 at The Pointe Church, 5335 Bass Road, Fort Wayne.
Arrangements are by D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne.
