WINONA LAKE – Beaman Home has been providing services in Kosciusko, Fulton and Marshall counties since 1985, but has struggled to find a way to inform the general public, or to fundraise without sharing secure details that were put in place to protect the domestic violence victims it was helping, according to a provided news release.
Tha all changed with the Beaman Home’s new state-of-the-art secure shelter. It has added many services to help clients thrive as they follow their journey to self-sufficiency.
Nonprofits rarely survive without a signature event, and this year the Beaman Home’s annual event, “Angels of Hope Luncheon” will feature Julie DiCaro, weekend host columnist for CBSChicago.com and update sports anchor for 670 The Score. DiCaro will talk about her experience with cyber bullying at the luncheon.
As a woman working in a male-dominated field, DiCaro has faced extreme bullying on social media, and is an advocate for women’s rights.
The event will be held April 19 at Christ’s Covenant Church, 2090 E. Pierceton Road, Winona Lake.
“We are so thrilled to have someone of Ms. DiCaro’s caliber come talk to our community about her experience with cyber bullying, something we all need to hear,” said Tracie Hodson, executive director of the Beaman Home. “Her message is very timely in our community and our country.”
One new standard-size pillow is the admission fee to the event, and it is hoped that all attendees would make a monetary donation when asked at the event to help sustain programs and to keep the shelter doors open 24/7, according to the release.
The event also will include a gourmet luncheon.
To attend, sponsor or bring a group of eight as a table captain, contact Trina Hoy at 574-267-7701 or [email protected]; or register online at www.TheBeamanHome.com/news-events.
