A Kosciusko Community Hospital nurse is facing charges after police allege she stole medication from the hospital for her own personal use.
Amanda Sue Gawthrop, 26, of 712 Boydston Mill Road, North Webster, is facing charges for possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony, and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
She was arrested Wednesday.
A Warsaw Police Department officer spoke with Kim Finch, the hospital administrator of nursing. Finch told police that during a monthly audit, they grew suspicious of Gawthrop’s medical log, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
Finch told police Gawthrop admitted she had been stealing medication for some time between six months to a year.
The affidavit alleges Gawthrop stole hydromorphone, oxycodone, hydrocodone and morphine from the hospitals.
Police allege Gawthrop told them she had stole medication “more times than she can count,” the affidavit states.
Gawthrop is currently out on bond.
