Last-Second Trey Lifts Lady Trojans To 36-35 HNAC Win

WINAMAC – Hannah Wanemacher hit a three-point shot with time expiring to give Triton a 36-35 win over host Winamac in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference girls basketball game Tuesday night.
Wanemacher led the Lady Trojans with 18 points and Whytnie Miller added eight points. Winamac’s Courtney Kopka tied Wanemacher for game-high honors with 18 points.
The junior varsity game went to Winamac 30-28. Abigail Powell led the Lady Trojans with 12 points.
Triton improved to 5-12 overall, and moved into a second-place tie with Winamac at 4-1 in the HNAC. The Lady Trojans will host Culver Community in a boys-girls doubleheader Friday night.

Lady Cougars Roll 73-25
WINONA LAKE – Hope Fancil scored 31 points, Jess slone had 15 points and 10 different Lady Cougars scored in Lakeland Christian’s 73-25 girls basketball rout of Cornerstone Christian Tuesday night.
The Lady Cougars led 33-13 at halftime, and 54-20 at the end of three quarters.
Melissa Goss had seven points for LCA. Brady Gross and Heather Plastow had four points each, and Anna Reimink and Maddie Paris had three points each. Winnie Kyandaluba, Hannah Salmons and Abigail Fishel had two points each for the Lady Cougars.
Lakeland Christian (8-8) will host Mishawaka Christian at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Dragons Down Cougars
ARGOS – Josh McDaniel had 15 points and Landon Twombly added 10 in Lakeland Christian Academy’s 54-41 loss to host Argos Tuesday night.
The Dragons held a seven-point advantage after one quarter, and pulled away from there.
The Cougars (4-7) host Victory Christian Friday night.

Squires Fall To Braves
BUNKER HILL – Maconaquah’s Wyatt Hughes and Chandler Pitts combined for 59 points in a 73-59 victory over visiting Manchester in a Three Rivers Conference boys basketball game Tuesday.
“(We) played well offensively tonight, but we were unable to stop the Braves while on defense,” Manchester head coach Mark Underwood said. “We struggled with their inside (Hughes) and outside (Pitts) duo.”
Complete statistics were not available as of press time.
Manchester (2-9, 1-2 TRC) hosts Wabash Friday night.

Wawasee Gymnasts Win
ANGOLA – Wawasee hit the road for its first dual gymnastics meet of the season, coming back with a 99.05-90.70 win over Angola Tuesday night.
Reagan Atwood won each event, taking the  the all-around for the Lady Warriors with a 35.20. She scored 8.750 on the beam, 8.30 on the bars, 9.30 on the vault and 8.85 in the floor exercise.
Alyssa Minnix was second in the all-around with a 32.10, and Aundreya Wegener was fourth with a 31.500.
“We were excited to have out first dual meet and especially happy to come out with a win,” Wawasee head coach Nika Prather said. “We have one day to work on some weak areas before a very tough meet with Carroll.”
Katie Haines was first in the junior varsity all-around, winning the vault (8.0), beam (5.7) and floor (7.4).
Wawasee (1-0) will travel to Carroll in Huntertown on Thursday.

Lady Tiger Gymnasts Fall
KENDALLVILLE – Warsaw opened its gymnastics season with a 98.450-92.025 loss at East Noble Tuesday night.
Remi Beckham was first on the vault for the Lady Tigers, and finished third on the uneven bars and the balance beam. Megan Metzger was third on the vault for Warsaw.
The Lady Tigers return to action Saturday at the Plymouth Invitational.

Get To Know The Team: Warsaw Captains Q&A
Earlier this week, I had the privilege of going to a Warsaw football practice and speaking with four of the team’s five captains. With so much having been written in recent weeks about their performance on the field, and rightfully so, I wanted to peel back the curtain a bit and ask them some questions about themselves.
