Lady Warriors Upend NorthWood; Zolman Honored

SYRACUSE – Aubrey Schmeltz scored 19 points for Wawasee to lead the Lady Warriors to a 52-46 home win over Northern Lakes Conference rival NorthWood.
The win came on a night when former coach Kem Zolman received the conference’s award for outstanding service. Zolman coached the Lady Warriors for 18 seasons, and served as a boys assistant for another 10 years.
Aubrey Kuhn had 12 points, and Hannah Haines added nine for Wawasee.
The Lady Warriors (7-8 overall, 2-1 NLC) host Columbia City Tuesday.

Triton Boys, Girls Beat West Central In HNAC Play
BOURBON – Triton hosted West Central in a rare girls-boys basketball doubleheader, and earned a sweep. Triton’s girls won 50-32 and the boys won 55-37.
Hannah Wanemacher hit five three-point shots on her way to 24 points in the girls game, and Whytnie Miller added 15 points for Triton.
Grant Johnson had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the boys’ winning effort. Zac Pitney had 14 points for Triton, who beat West Central without hitting a three-point shot. West Central had its losing streak extended to 31 games.
Triton’s Lady Trojans will travel to Winamac on Tuesday. The boys team travels to Culver Community on Friday.

Vikings Fall To Pilgrims
PLYMOUTH – Jarod Duzenbery  and Tanner Trippiedi had 10 points each, and Keith Wright had nine in Tippecanoe Valley’s 48-37 road loss to Plymouth in a non-conference game Saturday night.
Plymouth outscored Valley 20-10 in the seocnd quarter, and secured the win with a 13-6 advantage in the third period.
The Vikings (6-6) will play a Three Rivers Conference game Friday at Rochester.

WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy fell behind 1A No. 1 Argos 18-2 after the first quarter, and trailed 30-11 at halftime before falling 58-30 in a girls basketball game to the Lady Dragons Saturday.
The Lady Cougars will host Cornerstone Christian Tuesday. Lakeland Christian opened the season with a 37-3 win over the Lady Eagles Nov. 8.
