January 3, 2017 at 6:24 p.m.
By Staff Report-
From 11 a.m. to noon Jan. 10, the Career Center will host the “How to Succeed at a Job Fair” workshop designed to assist people with how to navigate and get the most out of a job fair event.
The workshop will cater to client’s questions and will present them with tools such as how to dress for a job fair and how to communicate in a way that ensures an interview. Participants also will receive a 25 percent discount card to shop for business casual attire at the Goodwill Retail Store attached to the Career Center. All Goodwill Career Center Workshops are free and open to the public.
Open mock interviews for anyone who wants to practice their interview skills will be from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 11.
If you’re nervous about having an interview, or struggling to land a job because of the interview phase, these sessions will help prepare you for the types of questions that could possibly be asked in an interview.
A job fair will be from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 17 featuring the following companies: Adecco (staffing for Zimmer Biomet), Texmo Precision Casting, Maple Leaf Farms, Kimco Services and Premiere concepts. In addition, Trine University and Ivy Tech Community College will be available with education information.
Applicants should dress professionally, bring a current resume and be prepared to interview that day. Those who visit the career center a week prior to this event can participate in one-on-one mock interviews or receive help updating a resume.
A course titled “Introduction to Microsoft Excel” will be offered 11 a.m. to noon Jan. 24 and Jan. 26.
This two-class series introduces participants to the Microsoft Excel program. The course will include a series of tutorials and hands on use with Excel. The goal is to help attendees become comfortable with the tools and basic features of the software: designing a spreadsheet, setting boarders, entering data into CDS, formatting cells, and searching for data with filters. This course is designed for beginning Excel users, but more advanced users are welcome to participate as we can customize the class to their skill levels.
The Career Center is adjacent to Goodwill Retail Store at 751 Anchorage Point Drive, Warsaw.
