Ned Carter VerHage

Ned Carter VerHage, Winona Lake, answered the call from his Lord at 7:20 p.m. Feb. 16, 2017, at the age of 90. He passed away at Grace Village Health Care of Winona Lake and sends his best wishes to his many friends and descendants. 
He was born July 15, 1926, in Holland, Mich., across from the coal docks to George and Jasmine Cummings VerHage.
After graduating from Muskegon Heights (Mich.) High School, he served two years in the U.S. Navy and spent his entire duty in the Pacific Theatre from New Guinea to China and Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
After his naval service, he married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Eloise Bush, on April 19, 1947. She preceded him in death March 26, 2015.
He graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in chemistry. He spent 20 years in Kosciusko County, where he attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, and worked at Dalton Foundry, Warsaw, as a manager and sales engineer. After retiring, he and Lorraine spent 25 years in Elk Rapids, Mich.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sons: James E. (wife Susan) VerHage, Auburn; Larry D. (wife Lana) VerHage, Warsaw; Brian D. (wife Kathy) VerHage, Fort Mill, S.C.; seven grandchildren: Micah (wife Stephanie) VerHage, Warsaw; Andrew VerHage (spouse Geoffrey Smith), Columbus, Ohio; Sarah (husband Reginald) Overstreet, Lakewood, Wash.; Joshua (wife Melissa) VerHage, Grand Haven, Mich.; Jana (husband Brian) Carney, Royal Oak, Mich.; Chelsea (husband John) Whitten, Fort Mill; and Corey VerHage, Fort Mill. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; infant daughter, Janet VerHage; son, Michael VerHage; great-grandson, Ezra VerHage; brother, George VerHage; and his daughter-in-law, Dianne VerHage. 
There will be no services at this time. The family will hold a private service this summer.
Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
