Warsaw Gymnasts Wrap Up Regular Season With Win

Remi Beckham won three of four events, and Warsaw gymnasts took at least three of the top four places in each event to roll to a 99.400-82.075 win over visiting West Noble in a gymnastics meet Thursday evening.
Beckham won the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise, while the Lady Tigers’ Daylen Turner won the beam. Turner was second on the vault, tied for third with teammate Megan Metzger on the beam, and was fourth in the floor ex.
Metzger also finished third on the vault and tied for third with fellow Lady Tiger Anna Wainscott in the floor ex. Metzger was fourth on the beam.
Wainscott took second on the bars, was fourth on the vault, and fifth on the beam.
The win wrapped up the regular season for Warsaw. Next up for the Lady Tigers is the Lakeland Sectional in LaGrange on Feb. 25.

Wawasee Gymnasts Beat Huntington North
SYRACUSE – Reagan Atwood and Jada Parzygnot took the top two spots in the all-around for Wawasee in the Lady Warriors’ 106.250-99.375 win over Huntington North in a home gymnastics meet Thursday.
Atwood won the vault and floor exercise, and was second on the uneven bars and high beam. Parzygnot won the bars and was third on the vault and floor ex, and fifth on the beam.
Wawasee finished its sweep of the four events when Aundreya Wegener won the beam.
“Huntington North has always been a strong team. We knew they had been scoring in the 100s, so we would need to hit our routines,” Wawasee coach Nika Prather said.
“We are still woking on adding difficulty to routines, and eliminating falls on the beam. It was great to see Aundreya win the beam; she had a beautiful routine.”
While happy with the win, Prather said there’s still work to do before the sectional on Feb. 25 at Lakeland High School in LaGrange.
“Our team score was back up to where I like to see it,” she said. “However, it’s not high enough to win a sectional championship.”
Wawasee has one last regular-season meet, hosting Plymouth on Tuesday.

Boys Swimming Sectional Preliminaries Completed
Preliminaries were held in boys swimming sectionals, with Manchester and Tippecanoe Valley competing at Warsaw, and Wawasee swimming in the Concord Sectional.
Warsaw’s Grant Knight was the only Tiger to win a race, taking the 100 breaststroke and finishing second in the 200 IM. Matt Borchers was third in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Hudson Snyder was second in the 500 free and fourth in the 200 free. Nick Zogbi had third-place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke. Alex Cook was second in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free.
Nick Bazzoni was third in the 100 breaststroke, and eighth in the 200 IM. Zac LaLonde had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Ian Deming was fourth in the 100 butterfly and sixth in the 50 free. Jacob LaLonde was fifth in the 100 free and 14th in the 200 free. Matt Hastings was sixth in the 100 backstroke and eighth in the 500 free. Trenton Rapp was 10th in the 100 free, John Deming 12th in the 100 butterfly and Jackson Moeller 14th in the 500 free.
All three of Warsaw’s relay teams advanced to Saturday’s finals with second-place finishes.
Tippecanoe Valley’s Chase Brower won the 50 freestyle preliminary and was second in the 100 free.
Advancing to the consolation finals for the Vikings were Daniel Alexander, who finished 10th in the 100 butterfly and 13th in the 500 free; Dakota Prater with a 10th-place  finish in the 200 IM and an 11th-place in the 100 butterfly; and Jacob Wagner was 11th in the 500 free and 14th in the 200 free.
The Vikings’ 200 medley relay team made the finals with a sixth-place finish.
Manchester’s Ben Green moved to the consolation finals by taking 11th in the 100 backstroke and 12th in the 200 IM. Parker York advanced with a ninth-place finish in the 200 IM, and the Squires’ 200 medley relay team qualified for the finals with an eighth-place finish.
At the Concord Sectional, Wawasee’s Brady Robinson advanced to the finals with a second-place finish in the 200 IM and by taking third in the 100 butterfly. Jared Krugman was second in the 200 free and fourth in the 500 free.
Moving on to the consolation round for Wawasee is Isaiah Metcalf (ninth in the 500 free, 11th in the 200 free), Jacob Krugman (12th in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke), Jake Cowan (10th in the 100 butterfly, 12th in the 100 backstroke), Aaron Troutman (13th in the 100 breaststroke, 16th in the 200 IM), Brett Willaman (13th in the 50 and 100 free), Spencer Naugler (ninth in the 100 backstroke, 11th in the 100 butterfly) and Eric Park (12th in the 500 freestyle).
Diving begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at both sites, and the swimming begins at 1 p.m.
