On Dec. 2, 1950, Edwin Warren Reeves was born in Anniston, Ala. He was the treasured son of Columbus and Bertha Lecroy Reeves. As the second youngest, growing up he shared his childhood with four brothers and three sisters.
On Sept. 20, 1971, in Belle County Texas, he married the love of his life, Barbara B. Swanson. Together they raised a daughter, Lori, and four sons: Edwin II, Jesse, Andy and Ben.
A true patriot, he answered the call to serve our country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He continued his service as a U.S. Army National Guard recruiter for the Warsaw office, retiring in 1995. His memberships include American Legion Post 49, Warsaw, and the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Association.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Lori Sechrist (husband Monty), Leesburg; four sons: Edwin Reeves II (wife Teresa), Leesburg; Jesse Reeves (wife Brandy), Pierceton; Andy Wright (wife Deborah), Warsaw; and Ben Wright (wife Kacey), Bremen; nine grandchildren: Ashley Reeves, Alex Reeves, Jordan Crane, Brandon Sechrist, Eric Sechrist, Hailee Blackburn, Bryant Reeves, Lily Reeves and Abby Reeves; three great-grandchildren: Broly, Marley and Jaxsyn; and two brothers: Bill Reeves (wife Sheila), Huntsville, Ala., and Gary Reeves (wife Jan), Greenwood.
Preceding Edwin were his parents; infant twin daughters, Cendy Lee and Wendy Lee; three sisters: Loretta Self, Brenda Nelson and Rosemary Lee; two brothers, Andy Reeves and Lynden Eugene "Junior" Swanson; his mother-in-law, Barbara Swanson; and his sister-in-law, Carol Tenzagloski.
A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Athens Hoover Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honors Team.
