United Way Names New Executive Director

He is filling the position left by the retirement of long-time Executive Director Patricia Coy.
Bickel has 23 years of experience in the non-profit sector, serving most recently as the vice president of community impact with United Way of Elkhart County. A graduate of Manchester University, with a bachelor’s of science in psychology, Bickel is an active part of Indiana’s ALICE Report and part of the Governor’s Early Learning Advisory Committee, according to a news release from United Way.
Bickel has led community impact initiatives, directed successful workplace campaigns and held many leadership responsibilities during his time with United Way of Elkhart County.
United Way Board President Adam Turner stated, “The board of directors is proud of the progress United Way has made over the years and trusts that Darren has the necessary knowledge and skills to take our United Way to the next level.”
As the new executive director, Bickel will be responsible for advancing the mission of United Way of Kosciusko County – “Uniting our community to create positive change.” Along with managing the day-to-day activities of the organization, Bickel also will be responsible for leading several major annual events, including the annual United Way campaign, vision council funding allocation process and volunteer engagement activities.
