HS Wrestling: Hatch Stays Unbeaten; 10 Others From Area Advance

Eleven Times-Union area wrestlers, including unbeaten Kyle Hatch of Warsaw, advanced from regional to semistate competition on Saturday.
Rochester Regional
Hatch stayed unbeaten at 152 pounds by winning the weight class at the Rochester Regional in IHSAA wrestling Saturday.
Wawasee advanced four wrestlers and Triton two to Saturday’s East Chicago Semistate.
Hatch improved to 43-0 this season and won his third straight regional title. He pinned John Loftus of South Bend Washington in 3:20 for a first-round win, and needed one second less to pin Joseph Walker of Mishawaka in the semifinals. Hatch then earned a technical fall over South Bend Riley’s Kassius Breathitt for the title.
Wawasee’s Braxtin Alexander was the only other area wrestler to win a regional title, taking first at 120 pounds. He opened his regional with a pin of Riley’s Terrance Jones in 2:29. Alexander took 4:24 to pin Joey Zahi of South Bend Adams, and beat Penn’s Tanner DeMien with a pin in 2:23 for the title.
The Warriors also had three runners-up; Garrett Stuckman at 113, Germin Brooks at 126 and Jeremiah Dilley at 220.
Malachi Greene (126) and Marcus Brown (132) will represent Triton at semistate, after they finished third and fourth, respectively, in the regional.
None of Tippecanoe Valley’s three regional qualifiers advanced to semistate.
Peru Regional
Manchester advanced four wrestlers from the Peru Regional to the New Haven Semistate tournament in Fort Wayne.
Delton Moore won the regional title at 160 pounds for the Squires. His brother Quentin was third at 170 pounds and qualified for his fourth semistate tournament.
Braxtin Wilson (120) and Wade France (152) finished fourth in their classes to advance to semistate. Tyce Rooney will be an alternate at 113 pounds.
The semistate tournament will be held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
Carroll Regional
Isaac Walters of Whitko lost 19-14  in the first round to Eli Parrett of Huntington North. Walters ended his sophomore season with a 23-9 record.
