BOURBON — Alfred Ira Fred “Minnie” Miner, 84, Bourbon, passed away Dec. 24, 2017, in the very home he was born in, with his family by his side.

Fred graduated from Bourbon High School in 1951. After high school he served in the Army, then came home to farm, raise cattle and horses. On May 4, 1963, he eloped with the love of his life, Sandra Grove; then added a son to their family in August of ’67.

He loved farming, horses, family, good friendships, serving his country and the Lord.

Fred enjoyed participating in parades and pulling contests with his trusty team of horses, Bob and Bill. He also took pleasure in hauling Santa to town and giving children rides in his horse-drawn cart. However, his favorite horse was Mike. They were inseparable and he considered himself blessed to have found the best horse a man could wish for. He shared many stories about Mike and his team, with gratefulness in his heart.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra; one son, Lane (Jackie); and two sisters, Katie Houghton and Mary (Lee) Hartle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Pearl (Feldman) Miner of Bourbon.

A special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice for their tender care of our loved one.

The family has planned a graveside service for 10 a.m. Thursday. Because of weather conditions, this will be at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.

*****

Memorials to Bourbon Volunteer Fire Dept, Triton FFA or Marshall County Humane Society.

Condolences may be left at deatonclemensfh.com.
