A Fort Wayne man is facing burglary and theft charges after allegedly entering a residence and strangling a woman before stealing some of her belongings.

Douglas Allen Quinn, 42, faces one count of burglary, a level 4 felony, and one count of theft, a Class A Misdemeanor, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the Kosciusko Circuit/Superior Court.

He was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 7:02 p.m. Saturday on a preliminary charge of burglary to a dwelling, with a bond set at $30,250.

On Nov. 26, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officer responded to a report of an unwanted man in a residence. The address was redacted in court documents.

When the officer arrived, he talked with the alleged victim who said Quinn made entry into her residence without her consent, strangled her and stole her driver’s license, military ID, credit cards, checkbook, Social Security card, birth certificate and several keys.

The victim told the officer she woke up with Quinn’s elbow across her chest and throat area. When she asked what he was doing, he replied, “Trying to suffocate you.” Quinn then took the items and left the residence.

She said she had hired Quinn to do some work in April. On several occasions since then, she’s had problems with him, according to court paperwork.
