Lady Squires Win Conference Game At Southwood
WABASH – Visiting Manchester got off to a fast start and never looked back in its 41-24 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball win over Southwood Friday night.
The Lady Squires led 11-3 after the first quarter and 26-10 at the break. They took a 38-18 lead into the final period before subbing liberally.
Kennedy Fierstos paced the Lady Squires with 12 points, while Erika Kendall had 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
“We had a full team effort tonight,” Manchester coach Jacob Everett said. “I’m proud of how the girls executed on both ends in the second half. We will look to build off this next week as we continue to focus on growing every day both individually and as a team.”
Manchester also won the junior varsity game handily, 49-14 over the Lady Knights. Morgan Parrett had 10 points, with Kyrsten Eakright and Gabbie Brewer adding nine points each.
Now 4-0 in the conference and 6-6 overall, Manchester will host Caston in a non-conference game Tuesday.

Squire Boys Fall To Knights
WABASH – Mason Hamby had 23 points for Manchester in its 78-66 loss to host Southwood in the Three Rivers Conference boys basketball opener for both teams Friday night.
Hamby also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Koehl Fluke had 14 points and Brayden Casper 13 for the Squires.
Statistics were not available for Southwood.
“I was proud of my team tonight. They battled hard and played with a lot of heart,” Manchester coach Mark Underwood said. “We are getting better. If these guys stay together, remain positive and keep working hard, then good things will come.”
Manchester won the junior varsity game 49-47 over the Knights. Kreeden Krull had 10 points, Max Carter nine and Mason Meyer and Thane Creager had eight points each for the Squires.
Now 0-5 to start the season, Manchester hosts Fort Wayne Smith Academy (4-3) tonight.

Triton Falls Behind Early In Conference Loss
WINAMAC – Ross Johnson had 11 points and Dylan Hensley 10 for Triton in its 52-42 Hoosier North Athletic Conference loss at Winamac Friday night.
In an otherwise statistically even game, Triton fell behind by 10 points by the end of the first quarter, and the deficit reached 20 in the second quarter. Both teams hit exactly 50 percent of their shots, made eight free throws and turned the ball over 12 times. Winamac had one more personal foul and four more rebounds.
But the Warriors hit 10 of 17 three-point attempts, while Triton had a 2-of-10 effort from long distance.
Will Larkin and Calvin Larkin shared game-high honors with 15 points each for Winamac.
In the junior varsity game, Triton came back from a 15-point deficit to take the contest into overtime before falling 44-38 in double overtime to the Warriors. Kaden Atkins paced the Trojans with 14 points. Keegan Westafter had eight and John Gardner seven points in the game.
Triton (2-4, 1-1 HNAC) plays its final game until after the holidays on Friday, hosting South Bend Trinity.
