At 5:30 p.m. Friday, the North Manchester Police Department received a report from the Dollar General Store that they had a subject use five $100 counterfeit bills to purchase a Green Dot debit card. Green Dot Corporation is an issuer of prepaid MasterCard and Visa cards in the United States.
The clerk realized after the subject left that the $100 bills had “Motion Picture Purposes” printed on top of them, according to a news release from the NMPD.
North Manchester Officer Keith Whiting took the report.
At 8 p.m. Friday, the suspect was back at the store and the clerk called the police. The suspect got nervous and left.
Officers Parker Stouffer and Devin Bechtold made a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle near an auto parts store. The suspect, identified as Ramone A. Jones, Roseville, Mich., was taken to the police department and questioned by Chief Jim Kirk and Whiting.
Jones was arrested for fraud and possession of marijuana.
At the Wabash County Jail, Deputy Sheriff Ryan Short indicated another seven counterfeit $100 bills and the Green Dot card were found in Jones’ undergarments, according to the news release.
