Phyllis S. Stauffer of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, went home to be with the Lord at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at Grace Village Health Care at the age of 83.

She was born May 9, 1934, in Elizabethtown, Pa., to Maris Gainer and Ora Stauffer Gainer. She was married on Dec. 28, 1952, to Glenn H. Stauffer. They shared 56 years of marriage together before he passed away Nov. 6, 2009.

Phyllis was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 52 years, coming from Pennsylvania. She was a longtime member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, where for many years she had the joy of baby sitting for M.O.P.S. and attended the Woman of Grace.

Phyllis was a food service worker throughout her life. She worked in the kitchen at Grace College in Winona Lake, Grace Village Retirement Community and even Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Kathy S. Stauffer, West Peoria, Ill.; four sons: Gerald L. (wife Mary) Stauffer, Orion, Mich.; Steven G. (wife Sandra) Stauffer, Warsaw; Douglas B. (wife Donna) Stauffer, Ithaca, N.Y.; and Michael S. (wife Marlissa) Stauffer, Hilliard, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn H. Stauffer; granddaughter, Rachael Stauffer; and her brother, Wilbur Stauffer.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Dec. 11, at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake. Her funeral service will follow viewing at noon at the church, officiated by Pastor Bruce Barlow.
