Wawasee Wrestlers Go 5-0 At LaPorte, Remain Unbeaten In Duals
LAPORTE – Five Wawasee wrestlers went undefeated, propelling the Warriors to a 5-0 record and the LaPorte Super Duals wrestling tournament championship Saturday.
Wawasee had a 48-18 win over Lafayette-Jefferson, 44-18 over LaPorte, 66-12 over Knox, 63-12 over Hammond and 41-25 over Merrillville.
Chris Schuller (120 pounds). Germia Brooks (132), Garrett Stuckman (138) Jace Alexander (156) and Elisha Tipping (285) each won all five of their matches in the tournament.
The Warriors will take a 15-0 mark into its December Super Duals tournament Saturday in Syracuse.
Squires 3-2 In County Tourney
WABASH – Wade France (152 pounds) and Delton Moore (170) won individual titles for Manchester, helping the Squires to finish with a 3-2 record in the Wabash County wrestling tournament Saturday at Northfield High School.
Manchester won 45-31 over Southwood, 51-27 over Northfield and 57-21 over Blackford, and fell 43-26 to Wabash and 37-33 to Southern Wells.
France and Moore won four matches each. Elijah Burlingame won four matches at 106 pounds and a fifth at 113. Ethan Shambarger (113), Tyce Rooney (120), Jackson Mathias (126), Braden Fortner (138), Andrew Cagle (160) and Bryce Kamphues (285) won three matches each. Kevin Morales (132), Ashton Moore (182) and Trey McNall (195) won two matches each, and Johnny England won his only match at 170.
The Squires will travel to Tippecanoe Valley for a Three Rivers Conference dual on Thursday.
Vikings 3-2 At Maconaquah Invite
BUNKER HILL – Jon Humes won all five of his matches at 152 pounds, and Chevy Teeter recorded four pins at 160 for Tippecanoe Valley, leading the Vikings to a 3-2 record at Saturday’s Maconaquah Invitational.
Valley won 51-30 over North Miami, 60-18 over Whitko and 42-39 over Rossville. Valley lost 51-30 to Lewis Cass and 58-23 to Maconaquah.
Haylee Brown (113 pounds), Seth Hoffman (126), Jacob Eherenman (132), Joseph Irons (182) Isaac Lowe (195) and Ian Becker (220) won three matches each. Haley Hoover (106), Luis Castillo (138), Jordan Owens (145), and Donald Bradley (220) won a pair of matches each.
The Vikings host Manchester in a Three Rivers Conference dual Thursday.
Tigers Win Twice At Valpo Super Duals
VALPARAISO – Dillon Estepp won all five of his matches at 285 pounds for Warsaw, leading the Tigers to a 2-3 record at the Valpariaso Super Duals wrestling tournament Saturday.
Isaiah Owens (106) and Jose Grimmett (145) won four times each. Brandon Estepp (152) and Gavin Truex (220) won three matches each. Two-match winners were Jose Martinez, Brock Hogenson, Brock Hueber, Josh West and Thaddeus Baker.
Warsaw travels to Plymouth for a Northern Lakes Conference dual Thursday.
Trojans Go 3-2 At Winamac Tourney
WINAMAC – Nate Riggins and James Snyder won five matches each for Triton as the Trojans went 3-2 in the Winamac Super Duals wrestling tournament Saturday.
Riggins wrestled at 126 pounds, while Snyder competed at 170 pounds four times and 182 once.
D’Angelo Shumpert (113), Connor Pitney (120) and Billy Smith (285) won four matches each. Alejandro Cabrera (138) won three times and Riley Chickering (145), Ryan Snyder (145) and Sheldon Rolston (220) won twice each.
Triton will host Westview in a non-conference match Thursday.
