Chase, Crash End In Arrest

A police pursuit early Saturday reached speeds in excess of 120 mph with the suspect vehicle crashing, sending the driver to the hospital.
On Saturday morning, the Warsaw Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on U.S. 30, according to a news release issued by police.

During the attempt to stop the vehicle, the silver Mitsubishi turned south onto North Parker Street and accelerated at a high speed. The vehicle made a series of turns onto East Center Street, Robmar Drive and Argonne Road before continuing north on North Parker Street, headed back to U.S. 30.
The vehicle turned west onto U.S. 30 in the eastbound lane. The vehicle drove through the median and continued west on U.S. 30, with speeds reaching 120 miles per hour, police said. When the pursuit reached CR 350W, the vehicle drove into the median and began driving east in the east lane of U.S. 30.
The vehicle turned south onto CR 350W and continued at a high speed until the intersection of CR 350W and West Old 30, where it left the roadway.
The vehicle crashed into an information pavilion, destroying it, then hit a utility pole, breaking it in half. The vehicle then spun and rolled, landing on the driver side.
Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory extricated the driver, William Sebastian Gonzalez, 43, of Wasco, Calif. Gonzalez was unresponsive and Lutheran Air was called to the scene. He was taken to Lutheran Fort Wayne with unknown injuries.
According to a Lutheran Hospital spokeswoman late this morning, Gonzalez was discharged.
Gonzalez was charged with resisting law enforcement with use of vehicle, a level 6 felony, and reckless driving, a B misdemeanor. He also was cited for speed and disregarding several traffic control signals.
Warsaw police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police.
