Tigers Sweep, Lady Tigers Split In NLC Cross Country
ELKHART – Warsaw earned a sweep of its Northern Lakes Conference boys cross country meet Tuesday, while the Lady Tigers split in their race. The Tigers won 19-36 over perennial conference power Northridge and 16-39 over host Elkhart Memorial. The Lady Tigers fell to Northridge 26-30 and beat Memorial 19-43.
Zeb Hernandez was the overall winner in the boys race in 16:07, with Lucas Howett third at 16:17, Xavi Ramierz fourth in 16:39, Taylor Mills fifth in 16:43 and Justin Fleming seventh at 17:08.
Mia Beckham won the girls race in 18:40 for the Lady Tigers. Emma Bohnenkamper was sixth in 20:37 and Angie Sanchez-Vijil seventh at 20:39. Remi Beckham was eighth in 20:42 and Amslie Howett 12th in 20:49.
The Lady Tigers will compete in the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcat Classic Saturday in Marion. Both the boys and girls teams will return to NLC racing Tuesday, hosting NorthWood and Concord.
Wawasee Boys Sweep; Lady Warriors Split
SYRACUSE – Wawasee opened Northern Lakes Conference cross country competition with boys wins over Concord (24-31) and Goshen (25-32). The Lady Warriors split in their race, beating Goshen 25-32 and falling to Concord 19-38.
Spencer Hare (16:40) and Luke Griner (16:44) finished second and third, respectively, in the boys race. Michael Hammer was eighth in 17:24, Braxton Alexander ninth in 17:37 and Ben Hoffert 12th in 18:10.
Kenzie Smith was fourth for the Lady Warriors in 21:06, with Caitlyn Wortinger sixth in 22:13. Valeiz Pizana was ninth in 22:56, Autumn Turner 10th in 23:05 and Ella Beezley 19th in 23:56.
The Lady Warriors will run in the IWU Wildcat Classic Saturday. The Warriors and Lady Warriors return to NLC competition Tuesday against Northridge and host NorthWood.
Trojans Fall To Bremen
TIPPECANOE – Triton dropped a 20-41 non-conference boys cross country meet Tuesday at Potawatomi Wildlife Park. The Lady Trojans didn’t have enough runners to field a team.
Josiah Page was third in the boys race for Triton, covering the course in 19:47. Ty Ferry was fifth in 19:54, Russell Reichard was 11th in 20:49 and Brandon Kitch was 12th, also in 20:49.
Baylee McIntire was third in the girls race in 22:15, and Briana Wilhite was fifth in 23:57 for the Lady Trojans.
Next up for Triton is the Caston Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday.
