Warrior Boys Win NorthWood Invitational XC Meet

NAPPANEE – Wawasee placed four runners in the top 10 to win the NorthWood Invitational cross country meet Saturday.

Triton finished 11th in the meet, and Wawasee’s girls team was fifth in its race.

Spencer Hare was second overall for the Warriors, with Luke Griner third, Michael Hammer seventh and Thomas Conley 10th for Wawasee. Braxton Alexander finished 17th and Bennett Hoffert 18th.

Wawasee’s Jace Alexander won the junior varsity race.

Triton was paced by Josiah Page, who took 40th overall. Ty Ferry was 43rd, Brock Watkins 50th, Trent Barnhart was 81st and J.D. Goodrich 89th for the Trojans.

In the girls race Mckenzie Smith was 13th for the Lady Warriors, with Caitlin Wortinger 18, Valeria Pizana 23rd and Evelin Romo 50th.

Triton had two runners in the race; Baylee McIntyre was 16th and Brianna White was 27th.

Wawasee will host Northern Lakes Conference teams Concord and Goshen on Tuesday. Triton will host Bremen and LaVille on Tuesday.

WABASH – Tippecanoe Valley’s boys and girls cross country teams each placed third at the Northfield Invitational Saturday.

Whitko and Lakeland Christian had runners compete, but not enough to field full teams.

Jordan Owens paced Valley, finishing 15th in 19:28. Mitchell Smith was 32nd, Matthew Howes was 52nd, Colt Demske 74th and Justin Peconga 97th.

All three teams will run in Saturday’s Manchester Invitational.
