Triton Improves To 2-0 With Victory Over LaVille

BOURBON – James “Bo” Snyder and Delano Shumpert connected with each other for three touchdown passes Friday night, leading Triton to a 22-14 win over visiting LaVille in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Snyder and Shumpert combined for scoring passes of 16, 38 and 24 yards, all in the first half. Quarterback Snyder rushed for 61 yards and passed for 107 more, and Max Slusser rushed for 54 yards and a two-point conversion.

The win was Triton’s first over LaVille since 2012, and the Trojans have started the season 2-0 for the first time in nine seasons.

Triton hosts Caston (1-1) on Friday.

Wawasee Falls To Chargers

LIGONIER – Jacob Hand caught a 71-yard touchdown pass from Evan Eshbach, and Aaron Evans ran for a 65-yard touchdown late for Wawasee in its 31-14 loss at West Noble Friday.

West Noble’s Kyle Mawhorter ran for four touchdowns and passed for another score.

Wawasee (1-1) opens Northern Lakes Conference action Friday at Northridge in Middlebury.

Squires Fall Short

BLUFFTON – A third-quarter touchdown and two-point conversion was all the scoring in Manchester’s 8-0 non-conference football loss at Bluffton Friday night.

Hayes Sturtsman passed for 125 yards and Trey Clark caught six passes for 90 yards.

The Squire defense kept them in the game, bending but breaking just once. Bluffton outgained Manchester 258-139, and a pair of interceptions helped the Squire cause.

Manchester (0-2) hosts Wabash in Three Rivers Conference play, and it’s the Squire home opener.

Lady Cougars Beat Argos

WINONA LAKE – Carlie Wise had eight aces and six kills, and Cami Dahms added three aces, four kills and six assists for Lakeland Christian Academy on Friday in its 25-15, 25-22, 25-21 volleyball win over visiting Argos.

Morgan Ziebarth had four kills, two digs and a block for LCA. Heather Plastow had 13 digs and two kills.

The Lady Cougars will host Culver Academies Tuesday evening.



Cougars Drop Close Game


VALPARAISO – Parker Stewart scored on an assist from Garrett McCoomb for Lakeland Christian Academy Friday in its 2-1 boys soccer loss at Victory Christian.

LCA had eight shots and five shots on goal. Remington Swanson had four saves for the Cougars.

Lakeland Christian (1-3) will host Winamac on Tuesday.
