NORTH MANCHESTER — Faith Baptist Church of North Manchester has a new pastor, Gary Akright.
Akright says he has a deep-seeded love for the church and feels called to lead Faith Baptist Church in sharing the love of Christ with the community, and in seeing people come to know the Lord as their personal savior and grow in their relationship with him.
A native of Saginaw, Mich., Akright has spent 16 years in ministry, serving churches in Washington, Michigan and most recently Wisconsin. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing and his Master of Divinity from Northwest Baptist Seminary, Tacoma.
Akright and his wife, Kristen, both lost their first spouses. They have been married and serving the Lord together since 2010. They have four grown children and one grandchild.
Faith Baptist Church is at 1303 Ind. 13, North Manchester.
Final UMC Lakeside Service Sept. 3
NORTH WEBSTER — The final lakeside worship service of North Webster United Methodist Church is planned for Sept. 3.
The service will be at 7:30 a.m. at Dixie Park, North Webster. The chancel choir will be the program.
The church offers Sunday lakeside services from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The service this Sunday will be at 7:30 a.m. at Epworth Forest Beach, the usual location.
Wade Spencer Will Sing Sunday In Warsaw
Wade Spencer will be singing at 6 p.m. Sunday at God’s Highway to Heaven.

Beef And Noodle Dinner Planned Sept. 1
CLAYPOOL — A beef and noodle dinner is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at Claypool United Methodist Church.
Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for youth ages 7-12, and free for children 6 and younger. Carry-outs will be available.
Anyone who brings a canned item will receive 50 cents off their meal.
All proceeds go to the church and its missions projects.
The church is at 302 E. Section St., Claypool.
End-Of-Summer Bash Open To Everyone
An end-of-summer bash is planned for Sunday at Warsaw Missionary Church.
Activities will include lunch, outdoor games, inflatables and a performance by magician Tyler Sherwin.
The service will begin at 10 a.m. All are welcome.
The church is at 1849 Springhill Road, Warsaw.
Ice Cream Social Saturday At Clunette UMC
CLUNETTE — Clunette United Methodist Church has planned its annual ice cream social from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
The event will feature homemade ice cream, homemade pie and other desserts, beverages and more for a freewill donation.

Swiss Steak Supper Planned Sunday
NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Church of the Brethren will have a swiss steak supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Meals are eat-in or carry-out.
