Tiger Boys Soccer Keeps Unscored-Upon Streak Intact

FORT WAYNE – The Warsaw boys soccer team remained unscored on after four matches Tuesday night, blanking Fort Wayne Northrop 2-0 in non-conference play.

The first half was played to a scoreless tie. Eric Ocock scored in the 69th minute to give the Tigers the lead, and Blake Burns scored on a breakaway with three minutes to go.

Warsaw has outscored its opponents 20-0 in compiling a 3-0-1 record so far this season.

The Tigers won the junior varsity match 4-0. Landon Voss scored twice, with Adam Brown and Ethan Grill scoring once each. Grill, Voss and Isaiah VanPufflin had an assist each.

Warsaw opens Northern Lakes Conference play at home against Plymouth Thursday.



Lady Tigers Earn Shutout

Warsaw had goals from five players, and Chloe Snow earned her first shutout of the season in the Lady Tigers’ 5-0 win over Plymouth in Northern Lakes Conference girls soccer Tuesday.

Abby Steffensmeier, Brenna Shipley, Brenna Buhrt, Anna Sullivan and Anna Grill all scored for the Lady Tigers. Steffensmeier, Audrey Grimm, Delaney Taylor and Dayle Harvey all had assists in the match.

Plymouth won the junior varsity match 1-0.

Now 2-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference, Warsaw will play at NorthWood Thursday. Kickoff in Nappanee is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.



Manchester Trips Triton

Kelsey Eichenauer was the medalist with a 44 Tuesday at Rozella Ford Golf Club, leading Manchester to a 184-229 win over Triton in a non-conference girls golf match.

Madyson Ulrey had a 45, Lydia Little a 46 and Sam Kissell a 49 for Manchester.

Alysha May paced Triton with a 55, followed by Whytnie Miller with a 56. Kate Gardner and Megan McFarland each had a 59 for the Lady Trojans.

Manchester hosts Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko in Three Rivers Conference play Thursday. Triton plays Bremen and host Tippecanoe Valley at Round Barn Golf Club in Rochester today.

Squires Blank Caston

NORTH MANCHESTER – Caleb Stout scored four goals for Manchester in its 8-0 rout of visiting Caston in a boys soccer match Tuesday.

Harley Kruschwitz, Noah Beck,  Eric Morales and Brandon Wagoner had one goal each in the non-conference match. Nathan Self had three assists, with Kruschwitz and Avery Johnson adding one each.

The Squires will play a Three Rivers Conference match at Wabash Thursday.



Lady Viking Volleyball Earns Road Win

WINAMAC – Sophie Bussard had 17 kills and Hannah Jansma added seven aces in Tippecanoe Valley’s 25-11, 23-25, 25-17, 25-8 victory at Winamac in a non-conference volleyball match.

Emily Peterson had 33 assists in Tuesday’s match. Makenzie Woodcox had five blocks, with Shayleigh Shriver and Marlea Myers adding 11 digs each.

Valley won the junior varsity match 25-18, 25-19. Sidney Wagoner had 10 kills and Allison Betten had four aces and six digs. Hannah Engstrand was credited with 12 assists.

Valley (2-2) opens Three Rivers Conference play Thursday when the Lady Vikings host Wabash.



Whitko Volleyball Drops 5-Set Match

CHURUBUSCO – Haley Howard had 14 kills and three aces, and Emalee Duggins had 11 kills in Whitko’s 16-25, 25-15, 25-22, 27-29, 15-11 loss at Churubusco in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday.

Kristina Slater had 36 digs and three aces for the Lady Wildcats. Carissa Beck and Jadin Parrett added three blocks each.

Whitko (0-3) will play in the Westview Invitational on Saturday.



Lady Warriors Swept At Central Noble

ALBION – Peyton Rookstool had 22 digs and Brooke Heche had 11 assists in Wawasee’s 25-21, 25-15, 25-21 volleyball loss at Central Noble Tuesday.

Janae Hapner and Hannah Gaerte had three kills each in the non-conference match.

The Lady Warriors won the junior varsity match 25-22, 11-25, 15-11 over the Lady Eagles. Ella Williamson had 18 digs, Kiaundra Olson had five aces and Molly Jones had six kills for Wawasee.

In the freshman match Wawasee took a 25-21, 25-17 decision. Cathrine Ondrla had six assists, two digs and an ace. Emma Dippon had four kills, Danielle Jenkins had four digs, and Bailey Mayhew contributed two blocks, two aces, a dig and a kill in the match.

Wawasee (1-3) will host Bethany Christian Thursday.



Lady Squire Volleyball Falls To Adams Central

NORTH MANCHESTER – Despite winning the first set, Manchester lost  a closely contested non-conference volleyball match 18-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-23 to visiting Adams Central Tuesday.

Kendra Auler had 23 assists, nine digs, two kills and two blocks in the match. Anna Osbourne had five kills, three aces, three digs and an assist. Kara Kline had 15 digs, eight kills and an assist, and Eva Bazzoni had 15 digs and two assists.

Manchester plays a Three Rivers Conference match at North Miami Thursday.



Lady Trojan VB Wins

BREMEN – Hannah Wanemacher had 30 assists and three solo blocks

Tuesday, and Nicole Sechrist added 30 kills in Triton’s 25-19, 25-21, 25-27, 25-20 volleyball win at Marshall County rival Bremen.

Emma Ross had 16 digs in the non-conference match, and Sydney Musilli added 11 digs and four aces. Charlotte Morris had six kills and Abbey Viers had two solo blocks.

Bremen won the J.V. match 25-20, 25-15.

Triton will host Argos on Thursday.



Triton Tennis Beats North Judson

BOURBON – Triton had wins at both doubles positions as well as the top two singles spots to beat North Judson 4-1 in Hoosier North Athletic Conference tennis Tuesday.

Keygan Mosier and Chase Butler won at No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-1 over Caleb Shireman and Blake Shell. At No. 2 doubles, Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules blanked Gavin Legac and Zach Hughes in 12 games.

Carter Kuntz earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Briker Stayrook at No. 1 singles, and John Gardner beat Gavin Alfonso 6-1, 7-6 at No. 2 singles.

Triton improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Trojans will play a conference match Thursday, traveling to Knox.



Warrior Tennis Records First Win Of 2017

ALBION – Wawasee got straight-set victories in four positions and a forfeit at the fifth to sweep host Central Noble 5-0 in boys tennis play Tuesday. It was the Warriors’ first win of the season.

Dylan Staley, Graham Perek and Zach Leedy needed just 13 games each to complete their wins at No. 1 through No. 3 singles, respectively. Jake Cowan and Jacob Krugman won at No. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-2.

Now 1-3 overall, Wawasee plays another non-conference match at West Noble Thursday.



Apaches Blank Vikings

WABASH – Tippecanoe Valley was swept 5-0 by Wabash Tuesday in a Three Rivers Conference boys tennis match.

Valley will play another conference match Tuesday at Peru.
