AKRON — William “Bill” L. Johnson, 70, rural Claypool, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, near Claypool in an automobile accident.

He was born March 26, 1947, in Kosciusko County, to Leroy Jud and Rose E. Miller Johnson. On March 23, 1968, in Columbus, he married Carolyn Pletcher; she survives.

Bill was a lab technician at Zimmer Orthopedics, retiring after 44 years. 

He was a 1965 graduate of Warsaw High School. He was a member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church and Silver Lake Wesleyan Church. He taught Sunday school and Bible study at both churches for many years.

He loved to golf, especially at Raccoon Run Golf Course.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn S. Johnson, Claypool; a daughter, Heather (husband Jack) Yell, San Angelo, Texas; a son, Troy (wife Anita) Johnson, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Cody, AshLee, Coulter, Brianne and Piper; and a special friend, Shane Newsome, Warsaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Jud and Rose Johnson.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Silver Lake Wesleyan Church, 106 Walnut St., Silver Lake, with Pastor Duane Sites officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
