Valley Tennis Scores Win Over North Judson
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley got its first boys tennis win of the season, 4-1 over North Judson in a non-conference match Thursday.
The match was moved to Valley due to construction on the North Judson campus.
All four of the Viking wins came in straight sets. Seth Hoffman won 6-1, 6-1 over Briker Stayrock at No. 1 singles, and at No. 2 singles Eric Wright beat Gavin Alonso 6-0, 6-0.
Garrett Feldman and Dakota Parker won at No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-3 over Blake Shell and Caleb Shireman. At No. 2 doubles, Jeremy Landis and Connor Frentzel downed Gavin Legac and Zach Hughes 6-0, 6-2.
At No. 3 singles, Valley’s Payton Mills dropped a three-set marathon 6-3, 4-6, 12-10 to North Judson’s Hayden Kaminsky.
Now 1-1 on the season, Tippecanoe Valley will play in the Cass Invitational on Saturday.
Lady Vikings Fall In Four Sets
AKRON – While three of the four sets were very close, Tippecanoe Valley fell 25-21, 25-13, 27-29, 26-24 to visiting West Noble on Thursday.
Makenzie Woodcox had 10 kills and four assisted blocks for the Lady Vikings. Sophie Bussard had 16 digs, with Shaleigh Shriver and Hannah Jansma getting four aces each.
Valley won the junior varsity match 25-16, 25-18. Rachael Randall had six kills, and Sarah Myers had five aces and six assists. Hannah?Engstrand had six assists, and Allison Betten had nine digs.
The Lady Vikings (1-1) will play at Marion Monday.
Valley Blanked By Panthers
AKRON – NorthWood scored six goals in the first half and three more in the second in a 9-0 boys soccer win over Tippecanoe Valley in a non-conference match Thursday.
The Vikings open Three Rivers Conference play Monday at Maconaquah.
Zebras Down Triton
BOURBON – Keygan Mosier and Chase Butler won at No. 2 singles for Triton’s only win in a 4-1 loss to visiting Rochester in a non-conference boys tennis match Thursday.
Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules dropped a three-set match 7-5, 6-7, 6-1 to Andrew Dunwoody and Aaron Meiser.
Rochester’s Quique Perego, an exchange student from Spain and that country’s third-ranked 15-year-old, beat Carter Kuntz at No. 1 singles.
Rochester won two of the three junior varsity matches.
Triton (2-1) plays in the Mishawaka Marian Invitational Saturday.
Lady Trojans Win
HAMLET – Nichole Sechrist finished with 21 kills, 12 digs, two solo blocks and four aces to lead Triton to a 25-19, 25-10, 21-25, 25-10 victory over Oregon-Davis in a non-conference volleyball match Thursday.
Charlotte Morris added 11 kills and Hannah Wanemacher had 30 assists in the match. Sydney Musilli had 11 digs and four aces for the Lady Trojans.
The junior varsity match was won by Triton 25-17, 25-18.
Triton (1-2) hosts Rochester Monday.
Lady Squires Win TRC Opener
WABASH – Julie Dalsager scored twice, once off a penalty kick to tie the match, and Lainey Shock scored the game-winner for Manchester in its 5-3 Three Rivers Conference girls soccer win at Wabash Thursday.
Carsyn Howard had a goal and an assist for the Lady Squires, and Bailey Mooney scored the first goal for Manchester.
The Lady Squires will visit Wawasee on Thursday.
Squire Soccer Rout Peru
PERU – Harley Kruschwitz scored three goals, with Isaiah Davis and Caleb Stout adding two goals each in Manchester’s 9-1 rout of Peru in the Squires’ Three Rivers Conference boys soccer opener Thursday.
Noah Beck and Kaidyn Alexander also scored for Manchester. Peru scored its goal with 30 seconds left in the match.
Manchester will host Huntington North at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Squire Tennis Wins
BUNKER HILL – Manchester got wins from both its doubles teams and at No. 2 singles to edge host Maconaquah 3-2 in a Three Rivers Conference boys tennis match Thursday.
Logan Parrett and Parker Wagoner won 6-2, 6-0 over Wesley Yoars and Hunter Hays at No. 1 doubles. Juniors Kyle Shephard and Kam Lester won 6-2, 6-1 over Austin Marshall and Maverick Butler at No. 2 doubles.
Spence Trick won in three sets, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2, over Zach Reyburn at No. 2 singles to hand the match to the Squires.
Manchester won three of four junior varsity matches. Winners were Grant Strobel at No. 2 singles, Drake Hatfield and Uria Hein at No. 1 doubles, and Hein and Strobel at No. 2 doubles.
“This is incredible,” said Manchester coach Eric Screeton. “Last year, they edged us out in a third set tiebreaker for the match during the regular season, and then in sectionals we barely held on in a third-set thriller to advance.
“But both of those were out-staged by tonight’s epic third-set thriller that gave us a big conference victory.”
Now 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the TRC, Manchester hosts Churubusco for a non-conference match Monday.
Lady Wildcats Fall
COLUMBIA CITY – Kristina Slater had 13 digs and Emalee Duggins had 10 digs and four kills in Whitko’s three-set girls volleyball loss at Columbia City Thursday. Game scores were not made available.
Carissa Beck had five kills and Haley Howard had four aces in the match.
The Lady Wildcats (0-2) travel to Churubusco on Tuesday.
Central Noble Beats Lady Wildcats
SOUTH WHITLEY – Visiting Central Noble scored four goals in each half for an 8-0 win at Whitko Thursday night.
The Lady Wildcats play at West Noble on Saturday.
