NORTH MANCHESTER – Sophomore Carsyn Howard scored twice, once in each half, to lead Manchester to a 2-1 win over Mississinewa in a non-conference girls soccer match Wednesday.
Howard’s first-half goal was unassisted, and the second-half tally was assisted by Lex Donathan. Goalkeeper Kiera Stacy had five saves.
Manchester (1-1) opens Three Rivers Conference play today at Wabash.
Trojans Knock Off Knox In HNAC Opener
BOURBON – Triton got a pair of wins in the doubles matches, and a win at No. 2 singles to beat visiting Knox 3-2 Wednesday in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference opener for the Trojans.
Keygan Mosier and Chase Butler beat Knox’s Jake Kreuger and Ethan Cooper 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules won for Triton at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-4 over Clint Stacy and Devan Himes.
John Gardner won a three-set match at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 over Zac Eby to give Triton the win.
The team split the two junior varsity matches.
Now 2-0 overall, Triton will host Rochester in a non-conference match today.
Lady Trojans Volleyball Swept
MISHAWAKA – Triton’s volleyball team lost at Mishawaka, 25-19, 25-3, 25-7, Wednesday night.
Nichole Sechrist had seven kills for the Lady Trojans. Hannah Wanemacher had 10 assists. Emma Ross had 10 digs and Sydney Musilli added nine digs for Triton.
The junior varsity match was won by Mishawaka 25-6, 25-13.
The Lady Trojans travel to Oregon-Davis for a match today.
Lady Warriors Beat West Noble
SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s Hannah Lancaster scored a goal, and Olivia Birch scored a goal and assisted on another in the Lady Warriors’ 3-1 soccer win over visiting West Noble Wednesday.
Sara Pritchard added a goal, assisted by Jenny Camarena. Pritchard assisted on Birch’s goal.
The Lady Warriors (1-1) travel to Westview for a match at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Wawasee Tennis Falls At Lakeland
LAGRANGE – Lakeland’s boys tennis team forfeited the two doubles matches, but won all three singles matches to take a 3-2 win over visiting Wawasee Wednesday.
The Warriors’ Dylan Staley won his first set but dropped the last two at No. 1 singles. The other two singles matches were lost in straight sets.
Wawasee (0-2) opens Northern Lakes Conference play today, hosting Plymouth at 5 p.m.
