Inquiry Meeting On Catholic Faith Monday

Sacred Heart Church, Warsaw, is sponsoring a Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults inquiry meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday.  

RCIA is for those interested in learning about the Catholic faith, for those interested in joining the Catholic church, and for any baptized Catholics who have not fully practiced their  faith and would like to renew it.

The meeting will be in the Gathering Space of the church, 125 N. Harrison St., Warsaw. For more information, call 574-267-5842.



Ice Cream Social Planned Saturday

ARGOS — Walnut Church of the Brethren will have its annual deacon-sponsored ice cream social from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

In addition to homemade ice cream, the meal will include sloppy joes, hot dogs, chips, cake, pie and drinks. Freewill donations will be accepted, and all donations will be used in the community.   

The church is at 5975 19th Road, Argos.



The Way Ministries Begins Sunday Service

The public is invited to worship with The Way Ministries Sundays in Warsaw.

The new church is at 1505 N. Detroit St., in the north half of the Sherwin Williams paint store. The worship service will begin at 9:30 a.m.

“We are a young congregation where loving God and loving people is not only what we do, but it is who we are,” said Noble Pulsipher of The Way. “We look forward to meeting you and worshipping our Lord and  Savior Christ Jesus together.”



Country Gospel Artist Will Sing Sunday

Country gospel artist Wade Spencer from Perryville, Ohio, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at Warsaw Family Worship Center.

Calvary Tabernacle Celebrating Anniversary

WINONA LAKE — The congregation of Calvary Tabernacle of Winona Lake will celebrate anniversary services this weekend, which marks one year at the church’s location at 1300 Wooster Road.

Matthew Ball, the new world missions field supervisor and pastor of Faith Apostolic Church in Carmel, will be the guest speaker in an evangelistic service at 7 p.m. Friday. The worship service will include music, singing, fellowship and preaching.

Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m., there will be outdoor activities for all age groups, as well as a free meal featuring Saucy's Barnyard BBQ and homemade ice cream. Games will include horseshoes, cornhole and volleyball, as well as games and activites for younger children, including a bounce house. There will be multiple drawings for fully loaded school backpacks; anyone in need is welcome to participate.

Also on Saturday, a gospel concert with Nikki Hill Hopkins will begin at 5 p.m. Hopkins, from Bloomington, is a songwriter and recording artist who recently released a new album, “I Stand Amazed.” Her music is also on YouTube.  She will co-minister with her husband, Pastor Kevin Hopkins, who will be the guest speaker at the 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday services.  

Calvary Tabernacle has a van to bring area residents to services. Call 574-551-4343 to get a ride.

CLUNETTE — Clunette United Methodist Church has planned its annual ice cream social from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 26.

The event will feature homemade ice cream, homemade pie and other desserts, beverages and more for a freewill donation.

Swiss Steak Supper Planned Aug. 27

NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Church of the Brethren will have a swiss steak supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27.

Meals are eat-in or carry-out.

The church is at 7281 E. CR 600N, North Webster.



Tenderloin, Fish Dinner Is Saturday

NORTH WEBSTER — The annual Dan’s hand-breaded tenderloin and fish dinner is planned for Saturday at ?North Webster United Methodist Church.

The all-you-can-eat meal will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Presale tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. Tickets at the door are $10 for adults and $6 at the door. Children 5 and younger are free.

Presale tickets are available at the church office from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today and Friday.

Proceeds from the meal will benefit church missions projects, including free community meals, the local food pantry, Beaman Home and the Wawasee Boomerang Back Pack program.

The church is at 7822 E. Epworth Forest Road.



‘Mark Twain’ At Calvary Connects

SYRACUSE — Mark Twain impersonator Ray Arm-strong will present “Mark Twain 1906” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary United Methodist Church.

Women’s Retreat Sept. 23 At First Christian

The women’s ministry of First Christian Church is planning a women’s retreat Sept. 23.

Betty Gray, Christian speaker and dramatist, will performa of Rahab from the book of Joshua.

Her daughter, Love Lockman, will deliver a message on the day’s theme, “Transformation.”

The retreat will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 115 Park Ridge Drive, Warsaw. It will include a light breakfast from 9 to 9:30 a.m., a worship team and a box lunch. In addition, a jewelry sale will benefit scholarhips to a Christian college.

Cost for the retreat is $25; registration ends Sept. 3.
