NORTH MANCHESTER — At the Manchester Community Schools board meeting Tuesday, James Bishir was approved to be the new Manchester Jr.-Sr. High School assistant principal.

Bishir replaces Chad Cripe, who took an administrative position at Tippecanoe Valley Schools.

Bishir has served as a Project Lead the Way teacher in the Peru Community Schools for the past three years. Previously, he worked as a school technology coordinator at Scenic Heights Elementary, Pensacola, Fla., and as a science teacher at Woodham Middle School, Pensacola. While at Woodham, Bishir was named STEM teacher of the year by the Air Force.

In extracurricular activities, Bishir has coached basketball and soccer and has spent time volunteering for Boy Scouts and International Student Exchange.

Bishir earned his master’s degree in educational administration at Ball State University, and his bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University in elementary education and middle school science.

Manchester Jr.-Sr. High School Principal Dr. Jon Lippe said, "The hiring committee was very impressed with his enthusiasm and passion for education, as well as his 15 years of teaching experience in the classroom.”

Bishir and his wife, Rebecca, have three children.

Originally from Wabash County, Bishir said, "Many people question why I moved back to Indiana after living the beach life in Florida. All I can say is there is something special about raising children in a small town, and Wabash County is a great place to grow kids. Also, I want everyone to know that I'm extremely excited about becoming part of a great school system and community here in North Manchester.”
