Amy Lucile Burley, North Manchester, formerly of Winona Lake, went home to be with the Lord at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, at the age of 92. 

She was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Pandora, Ohio, to Edward Joel and  Rhoda Emma Neuenschwander Leightner. On July 30, 1950, she was married at Pandora Missionary Church to Robert Thomas Burley, who survives. 

Amy was a 1943 graduate of Pandora High School. She then attended Fort Wayne Bible College. 

She was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 59 years. She worked for 30 years at the Light & Life Bookshop and Herald Book Store, both in Winona Lake. 

Amy was a member of Winona Lake Free Methodist Church and worked in children’s ministries for over 50 years. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Robert “Bob” Thomas Burley, North Manchester; daughter, Carol Simpson, Indianapolis; and her son, Thomas (wife Jennifer) Burley, Warsaw. She leaves behind three grandchildren: Jena (husband Chris) Fahlbush, Indianapolis; Marco Simpson, Indianapolis; and Jillian Burley, Bloomington; and her brother, Paul Leightner, Brevard, N.C. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother  and three sisters. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.  

Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Henry Church and Pastor Doug Balzar. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
