BOURBON — Jack James Racolta, 81, a resident of Bourbon, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 4, 2017, in Morning View Nursing Home, South Bend.

Jack was born the son of Joseph and Mary Racolta at Detroit, Mich., on Dec. 29, 1935. He was a resident of Bourbon since December 1973.

Jack retired in 1997 from Fairmont Homes of Nappanee as a vice president.

Jack enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan — IU basketball, Notre Dame football and Chicago Cubs, to name a few. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 424 and Plymouth Moose Lodge 741. His favorite pastime was sharing stories about his children and grandchildren. He was a social butterfly and could really cut a rug.

Rosalee E. Weissert became the bride of Jack on June 28, 1975; she preceded in death July 4, 2007.

He is survived by his children: Robin Racolta (Ted Carpenter), Bourbon; Jackie (Lane) Miner, Bourbon; Jan (Monti) Apple, Noblesville; and Joe (Angie) Racolta, Syracuse; and stepchildren, Debbie (Steve) Calhoun, Plymouth, and David (Mary) Swihart, Goshen. Jack was also blessed with five grandchildren: Jeremy (Heather) Weissert, Jenna (Trent) Campbell, Brittney Frenger, Kirsten (Drew) Monteith and Trane (Kaylee) Fox; stepgrandchildren: Brandon Calhoun, Allison Calhoun, Rob Swihart and Liz Stack-Hall; seven great-grandchildren: William and Austin Weissert; Hank Campbell; Braxton, Colt and Keegan Monteith; and Ryder Fox; a sister, Flo (Tony) Crachiola, Hazel Park, Mich.; and a brother, George (Shirley) Racolta, Union City, Mich.

Preceding in death were his parents; a son, Michael; and a sister, Theresa Racolta.

The family will welcome friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, in Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.

Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
