Attack Tryouts Saturday

Attack 16U travel baseball will be holding tryouts from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Grace College. Contact Ryan Weaver at 574-551-8748 for more information.



YMCA Soccer Registration Open

Registration is now open for the Kosciusko Community YMCA fall soccer programs for youth and adults.

The youth leagues offer four divisions, Division I for ages 3 to 4, Division II for those age 5 to 1st grade, Division III for those in 2nd and 3rd grade and Division IV for those in 4th-6th grade.  Division III and IV will have a 45-minute weeknight practice on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Division I and II will practice before their game.

Games will be played on Saturday mornings. Practices and games will be held at Harrison School sports fields. Volunteer coaches are also needed.

Register at either of the YMCA branches or online at www.kcymca.org. Registration will be open until August 11, with a late registration, including a late fee until August 18.  The first game will be August 19 and the last September 30.

The YMCA provides financial assistance for those who qualify. Applications should be made three weeks in advance.  

The adult soccer league will play on Monday nights, 5:30-7:30 p.m. from August 14 - October 9.  Games will be seven-on-seven and will be played at Harrison Elementary School.  Register at the Welcome Center or by emailing [email protected] by August 9.

Valley All-Sport Passes On Sale

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley’s all-sport passes are on sale at the school’s athletic department. Adult passes are $75, senior passes for adults aged 60-plus are $55, and student passes for grades 1-12 are $45.

The pass is good for all Viking home sporting events except tournaments, and basketball seating is not reserved. Season tickets for each sport will also be sold, as in the past.

K9 Klassic Coming This Month

WINONA LAKE – The K9 Klassic will be held Aug. 12 at Winona Lake Park, 1590 Park Ave. The benefit for the Animal Welfare League includes a walk and a 5K fun run with or without dogs.

The entry fee of $20 includes a bandana for the dogs, and there will be plenty of watering stations along the route. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. and the event begins at 10 a.m.

Vikings Commemorating 1992 FB Sectional Champs

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley will mark the 25th anniversary of the 1992 football sectional champions at halftime of the Aug. 25 game with Culver Academies.

Coaches, players, cheerleaders and managers from the 1992 squad can RSVP to Valley Athletic Director Duane Burkhart at [email protected] or at 574-598-2103.



Sweet Sassy Classic Aug. 26

The Sweet Sassy Golf Classic, in honor of the late Scott Bibler, will be held at Rozella Ford Aug. 26.

Bibler spent 25 years of his life as a football coach and educator at Tippecanoe Valley. He was a talented athlete in his youth, playing football for the Vikings until he graduated in 1982. He continued athletics at Taylor University where he played football and baseball.

The Scott “Bibs” Bibler Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in Scott’s memory. The scholarship will help students pursuing a career in education, helping underprivileged children to participate in educational, cultural and musical activities or help them access counseling services.

The cost is $280 per four-person team until Aug. 1, when it goes to $300 per team. Hole sponsorships are available, and a celebratory dinner will be held at El Faro after the tournament.
