Tippecanoe Valley Scores 7 In The 7th Inning For Walk-Off Victory

AKRON – Trailing 9-3 headed in to the home half of the seventh inning, Tippecanoe Valley rallied with seven runs to pull out a 10-9 win over Maconaquah in Three Rivers Conference softball Wednesday.
Freshman Ally Betten had four hits and scored twice for Tippecanoe Valley. Her senior sister Abby homered and singled, and Sydney Howard homered in the game.
Mia Gunnels collected three hits, including a double, and scored twice. Taylor Czichilski added a pair of singles in the win.
Kayla Scott was the winning pitcher in relief for Valley.
The Lady Vikings host a tournament on Saturday.

Valley BB Gets Walk-Off Win
AKRON – Senior Alec Craig tripled to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning, and Tanner Trippiedi singled home Craig to give host Tippecanoe Valley a 3-2 Three Rivers Conference baseball win over Maconaquah.
Adam Myers was the winner on the mound, throwing a complete game and allowing four hits while striking out seven.
The Vikings host John Glenn for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday.

Lady Vikes Fall To Glenn
WALKERTON – Lea Stouder won a three-set match at No. 3 singles for Tippecanoe Valley’s lone win in a 4-1 girls tennis loss at John Glenn Wednesday.
America Baca and Makayla Sandbakken won their first set at No. 2 doubles before falling in a three-set match. Aerin Shewman lost a second-set tiebreaker at No. 1 singles.
The Lady Vikings will host Maconaquah in a Three Rivers Conference match today.

Warsaw Rally Falls Short
Warsaw scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, but fell one run short in a 6-5 loss to visiting Northridge in a Northern Lakes Conference softball game Wednesday.
Abby Glass homered and drove in three runs, and Saylor Bradley homered and singled for the Lady Tigers. Courtney Chookie struck out five Lady Raiders in her seven innings of work.
Warsaw travels to Dunlap for a conference game with Concord Friday.

Raiders Tame Tigers
MIDDLEBURY – Warsaw was held to five hits in a 13-3, six-inning baseball loss at  Northern Lakes Conference foe Northridge Wednesday.
The Raiders led 5-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth. Northridge scored six runs in the fifth, then invoked the run-rule with two in the sixth.
Liam Patton homered for the Tigers. Collin Marshall and Jared Hawley added doubles for Warsaw.
The Tigers will host Concord in a conference game Friday.

Wawasee Blanks Plymouth
SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s Meghan Fretz allowed one hit in five innings, and added a pair of singles at the plate to help the Lady Warriors blank Northern Lakes Conference foe Plymouth 13-0 Wednesday.
The Lady Warriors scored four runs in the first inning and five more in the second to put away tfe Lady Pilgrims, who are winless in NLC play.
Kayla White and Madi Wilson had three hits each for the host Lady Warriors. Leah deSomer had a double, a single and drove in four runs.
In junior varsity play, Wawasee improved to 6-2 with a 10-0 win over Plymouth. Megan Bray had two hits and a pair of RBIs, and Madison Mattern had three hits and drove in a run.
Wawasee will take a 12-2 record, 5-0 in the conference, in to Friday’s NLC home game with Goshen.

Pilgrims Down Warriors
PLYMOUTH – Visiting Wawasee scored three times in the first frame, but was shut out the rest of the game in a 10-3 Northern Lakes Conference baseball loss to Plymouth Wednesday.
Gavin Barker doubled twice, and Jacob Garcia and Rylan Kuhn had two hits each for Wawasee.
Now 5-7 overall and 1-3 in the NLC, the Warriors visit Goshen for a conference game on Friday.

Panthers Beat Warriors
SYRACUSE – Spencer Hare was a double-winner for Wawasee, taking the 800 and 3,200-meter runs, and the Warrior 4x800 relay team won, but that was it in a 93-39 Northern Lakes Conference boys track loss to visiting NorthWood Wednesday.
Wawasee will compete in the John Reed Relays in Kendallville on Saturday, then host Goshen and Elkhart Memorial in a conference meet Wednesday.

Southwood Trips Wildcats
SOUTH WHITLEY – Host Whitko suffered its second loss of the baseball season 7-3 to Three Rivers Conference foe Southwood Wednesday.
The Knights went in to the seventh inning with a 3-2 lead before putting the game away with a four-run frame.
Alex Robbins took the loss for the Wildcats, despite striking out six Knights in his six innings of work.
Now 13-2 overall and 2-1 in the TRC, Whitko will host South Adams in a non-conference game Friday.

SOUTH WHITLEY – Andrea Snavely had a double and a single, and Riley Insley doubled for host Whitko in its 8-0 Three Rivers Conference softball win over Southwood Wednesday.
Ellie Snep and Shianna Bradley combined for the shutout, striking out a dozen Lady Knight batters between them.
The Lady Wildcats will play in the Tippecanoe Valley Invitational Saturday.

Lady Squires Blank Peru
NORTH MANCHESTER – Manchester junior Mattie McKee struck out 10 Peru hitters in five innings of pitching, and combined with Brooklyn Howard to shut out Peru 3-0 in a Three Rivers Conference softball game Wednesday.
Howard pitched two innings and recorded six strikeouts for the Lady Squires. The two pitchers combined for a two-hitter. Sydney Day had two hits and drove in a run for Manchester.
The Lady Squires improved to 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference. They will host TRC foe North Miami Monday.

Peru Beats Squires
NORTH MANCHESTER – After Manchester took an early 2-0 lead, visiting Peru scored twice in the third inning and two more in the fifth to beat the Squires 4-2 in Three Rivers Conference baseball Wednesday.
Hayes Sturtsman limited Peru to five singles in the game, but also hit two batters who eventually scored.
Manchester fell to 2-1 in the conference and 8-3 overall. The Squires host North Miami in a conference game Monday.

Manchester Tennis Falls 3-2 At Homestead
FORT WAYNE – Leiah Brandenburg and Kelsey Eichenauer won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, for Manchester in its 3-2 girls tennis loss at Homestead Wednesday.
Brandenburg won her match 6-1, 6-1 while Eichenauer won 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Squire junior varsity won three of eight matches. Winners were Lotte van der Ven at No. 1 singles, Cora Barnett at No. 3 singles, and Halie Wampler and Morgan Stroud at No. 1 doubles.
Manchester (5-3) face Northfield today and will play in the Homestead Invitational on Saturday.

Triton Blanks North Judson
BOURBON – Kolbie Mason and Emma Ross shut out their opponents at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively, and the rest of the Triton girls tennis team won in straight sets to beat North Judson 5-0 in Hoosier North Athletic Conference play Wednesday.
Hannah Wanemacher won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Siera Sauer and Kaylene Slabaugh needed a first-set tiebreaker in their No. 1 doubles victory. Kendra Morris and Mindi Dreibelbis won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
The Lady Trojans will play in a tournament at Elkhart Central and hosted by Concord on Saturday.
