Valley Track Teams Get Wins Over Caston Comets

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley’s track teams swept visiting Caston in a non-conference meet Monday. The Lady Vikings won 95-48 and the Valley boys earned a 71-52 victory.
Sarah Tucker was a double winner for the Lady Vikings, taking the 100 and 200. Other winners for the Lady Vikings were Cora Albers in the shot put, Jadyn Kolesiak in the 1,600, Olivia Smith in the high jump and Valeria Jiminez in the 400. Valley won all three relay races as well.
Dakota Parker won twice for Valley boys, breaking the tape in the 100 and 400. Keith Wright won the high jump for the Vikings, Jared Mikel won the 300 hurdles and Will Hassenplug won the shot put. Valley also won the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
Next up for Valley is the John Glenn Invitational in Walkerton on Friday.

Panthers Blank Tigers
NAPPANEE – Jared Hawley, Bryce Sensibaugh, Luke Baker and Colin Marshall each collected a hit for visiting Warsaw, but that was all the offense the Tigers mustered in a 4-0 Northern Lakes Conference baseball loss at NorthWood Monday.
Jordan Jones pitched the first five innings for the Tigers and took the loss.
The Tiger junior varsity claimed a 5-4 win over the Panthers. Noah Burgh had two hits and drove in a run.
Now 4-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference, Warsaw will play at Northridge in an NLC game Wednesday evening.

Carroll Blanks Warsaw
The Carroll Lady Chargers beat  host Warsaw 5-0 in a non-conference girls tennis match Monday.
The Warsaw junior varsity won five and lost seven matches to Carroll. Winners for the home team were Amy Herendeen and Raegan?Merchant in singles play; Emma Hoff and Jennifer Straits at No. 6 doubles; Charlotte Grandon and Kat Josellis at No. 7 doubles, and Mattie Ray & Izzy Ray at No. 8 doubles.
The Lady Tigers host Elkhart Memorial in Northern Lakes Conference play today.

Lady Trojans Beat LaVille
BOURBON – Nichole Sechrist and Whytnie Miller had three hits each, and Courtney Jennings pitched four innings of shutout softball for Triton in its 12-2, five-inning win over visiting LaVille in Hoosier North Athletic Conference play Monday.
Sechrist, Jennings and Hannah Woodard each had doubles in the contest, and Taytum Hargrave had two hits, a stolen base and scored twice.
The Lady Trojans are 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the HNAC. They host North Miami for a non-conference game today.

Triton’s Big Inning Run-Rules Knox 10-0
BOURBON – Triton scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth, giving the Trojans a 10-0 win over Knox in Hoosier North Athletic Conference baseball Monday.
Senior Zac Pitney scattered five hits over his five innings on the mound and was the winning pitcher. He struck out nine and walked one.
Max Slusser had a double among his game-high three hits. Pitney, Adam Stevens and Ty Ferry had two hits each for the Trojans.
The Trojans have a rematch at Knox today.

Warriors, Raiders Suspended
SYRACUSE – Wawasee and Northridge were tied at 6-6 after nine innings Monday when the Northern Lakes Conference baseball game was suspended due to darkness. The game will resume when the Warriors visit the Raiders on May 10.
Baline Greer, Jairus Boyer and Gavin Barker had two hits each for Wawasee. Blake Norris pitched the first 5-1/3 innings, and Carter Woody the next 3-2/3 for the Warriors.
Northridge won the junior varsity game 13-7 over the Warriors.
Wawasee takes a 5-6 overall record, 1-2 in the NLC, in to its conference game at Plymouth Wednesday.

Wawasee Holds Off Northridge 5-4 In NLC Play
MIDDLEBURY – Meghan Fretz homered, Madi Wilson and Leah deSomer doubled and Wawasee held off a late rally by host Northridge for a 5-4 Northern Lakes Conference softball win Monday.
Fretz pitched a complete game, striking out a dozen Lady Raider batters and walking none in her seven innings in the circle.
The Lady Warrior junior varsity won 13-2 over Northridge. Elizabeth Webber and Bethany Flannery had three hits each for Wawasee, and combined for six RBIs.
Wawasee will host Plymouth in a conference game Wednesday.

Wawasee Golf Splits
SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s Zach Leedy paced the Warriors with a 44 in its win over West Noble and loss to Fairfield in a non-conference boys golf match at South Shore Golf Club Monday. Fairfield had a team score of 168 to Wawasee’s 193 and West Noble’s 215.
Leedy’s 44 was one shot behind Fairfield’s Michael Shetler. Wawasee had a 48 from Cameron Brill, with Dillon Drake shooting a 49. Luke Weisser posted a 52 and Jared Krugman had a 58.
“We did not play well,” Warrior coach Steve Coverstone said. “We had too many big holes, and we need to play more conservatively when we’re in trouble.”
Evan Dippon led the Wawasee junior varsity with a 45. Kobe Jones posted a 47, Jake Cowan a 52 and Cody Sherman a 68.
Wawasee hosts Manchester, Whitko and South Bend Riley at South Shore Thursday.

Lady ‘Cats Tennis Wins
COLUMBIA CITY – Visiting Whitko earned a 4-1 non-conference girls tennis win over Columbia City Monday.
Winning for the Lady Wildcats were singles players Morgan and Delaney Keirn and Jackie Werstler and the No. 2 doubles team of Jenna VanCuren and Manon Sonneville.
The Whitko junior varsity won 5-0 over the Lady Eagles. Winners were Natalie Iholtz, Blair Creamer, Kayla Schipper and the doubles teams of Mahkinsey Myers and Lilly Owsley and Izzy Rayner and Katherine Ousley.
Whitko will host Fort Wayne Northrop today.

Lady Squires Roll To Win
NORTH MANCHESTER – Brooklyn Howard and Erika Kendall had two hits each, and Howard struck out four batters from the pitching circle for Manchester in its 14-2, five-inning Three Rivers Conference softball win over visiting Rochester Monday.
Manchester scored eight runs in the second inning, sandwiched between three-run frames in the first and third.
Now 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the TRC, the Lady Squires will host conference foe Peru on Wednesday.

Squires Take Down Zebras
NORTH MANCHESTER – Grant Strobel had three hits and Hunter Boughman was the winning pitcher in host Manchester’s 11-4 Three Rivers Conference baseball win over Rochester Monday.
Jeremiah Airgood, Mason Meyer, Trey McNall and David McAtee each drove in runs for the Squires.
The Manchester junior varsity lost at Wabash 11-7, and fell to 2-3 overall.
The Squire varsity improved to 8-2 overall, and 2-0 in the conference. They host Peru on Wednesday.

Lady Zebra Tennis Edges Manchester 3-2
ROCHESTER – Sisters Karly and Kelsey Eichenauer won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, in Manchester’s 3-2 Three Rivers Conference loss to Rochester   Monday.
The Lady Squire junior varsity won four of eight matches with the Lady Zebras. Winners were Elizabeth Anguilm and Rebekah Pyle in singles, Halie Wampler and Morgan Stroud at No. 1 doubles and Briley Spann and Lindsay Rice at No. 2 doubles.
Now 5-2 overall, the Lady Squires travel to Homestead for a match today.
