Bedke, Lady Squires Win At Turtletown Relays

CHURUBUSCO – Manchester standout Rae Bedke won three individual races and anchored the winning 4x800 relay, leading the Lady Squires to the black division title at the Turtletown Relays Saturday.
Along with the relay, Bedke won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 runs, accounting for 40 of Manchester’s 91 points. She was name the top individual performer in the meet.
Other top performers for Manchester were Bailey Sewell, first in the discus; Gabby Brewer, second in the long jump; Jaelyn Webb, second in the 1,600 and fourth in the 3,200;  Katie Barker, third in both the 100 and 300 hurdles; and Sydney Diefenbaugh, fifth in the 800. The Lady Squire 4x100 relay finished seventh, and the 4x400 relay finished eighth.
Whitko was seventh in the black division, paced by Katie Reed who won the long jump and had a third-place finish in the high jump.
Suzanne Sickafoose was third in the 400, sixth in the long jump and the 200 and seventh in the 100.
Lyndsey Sapp was third in the discus and seventh in the shot put; Carissa Beck, fourth in the shot put; and Sarah Walters finished seventh in the 1,600 and eighth in the 3,200. The Lady Wildcat 4x800 relay team took eighth.
Wawasee was fourth in the gold division, with Hannah-Marie Lamle leading the way for the Lady Warriors. She won the 300 hurdles, and was second in the 100 hurdles and the long jump.
Alexis Manges was second and Sarah Pritchard fourth in the discus, and Jada Parzygnot was second in the pole vault for Wawasee. Elizabeth Zorn was fourth in the 3,200 and fifth in the 1,600. McKenzie Smith was seventh and Caitlin Wortinger was eighth in the 800. The Lady Warrior 4x800 relay was fifth, and the 4x400 relay was sixth.
Manchester hosts Whitko, Northfield and Lakeland Christian Tuesday. The Lady Warriors host Warsaw and NorthWood Tuesday in Northern Lakes Conference competition.

Triton Boys Golf Wins Whitko Invitational
NORTH MANCHESTER – Triton’s team score of 332 was two shots better than Fairfield, allowing the Trojans to win the team title at the Whitko Invitational boys golf tournament at Sycamore Golf Club Saturday.
The Trojans were paced by Braden Kreft’s 81. Isaac Wall and Beau Hepler each checked in with 82s, while Chase Butler carded an 87 and Spencer Johnson a 94.
Paced by tournament medalist Harley Krushwitz’s 76, Manchester finished fourth. Tippecanoe Valley finished fifith, with the Vikings’ Jeremy Julian carding a 79, the only other player to break 80 on the day.
Wawasee was seventh, with Zach Leedy’s 89 pacing the Warriors. Caleb Busz shot an 88 and Tim Gensch an 89 for ninth-place Whitko.
Triton will visit Warsaw at Stonehenge Golf Club on Tuesday.  Valley will travel to Culver Community for a non-conference match on Tuesday. Wawasee will host Manchester and Whitko at South Shore Golf Club in Syracuse on Thursday.

Tigers Baseball Falls Twice At No. 5 Wildkats
KOKOMO – The visiting Warsaw Tigers dropped both ends of a non-conference baseball doubleheader to 4A No. 5 Kokomo Saturday. The first game the Wildkats won 6-2 and the second game had a 4-3 final score.
In game one the Tigers got a pair of runs in the first inning and held that lead until the fourth when Kokomo scored three times to take a 4-2 lead. Braxton Tennant threw four innings and took the loss for the Tigers. Bryce Sensibaugh and Liam Patton each had two hits for the Tigers while Tennant had 2 RBIs.
Game two began with the Tigers again jumping out to a 2-0 lead with runs in the second and third innings.  Kokomo struck with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead.  Matt Francis drove in the tying run in the sixth for Warsaw, but Kokomo walked off in the bottom of the seventh. Tennant went 3 for 4 with a double while Francis was 2 for 3 and drove in two runs.
Now 4-7 overall, Warsaw returns to Northern Lakes Conference play today at NorthWood.

Tiger Boys Golf 12th at Lake Central Invitational
DE MOTTE – Warsaw was 12th of 17 teams in Saturday’s Lake Central Invitational at Sandy Pines Golf Club The Tigers had a team score og 363.
Low player for Warsaw was Sam Yeager with an 83. Luke Delp had an 87, Jacob LaLonde a 96, Tim Rata a 97 and Rob Sullivan a 104.
The Tiger junior varsity won the Plymouth Invitational at Pretty Lake Golf Club Saturday with a team score of 352. Zach LaLonde was the tournament medalist, shooting an 81. Tommy Meier was second overall with an 85. Chase Byron had a 90, Lucas Rhodes shot 96 and Noah Pequignot a 114.
The Tiger golf team will host Triton at Stonehenge on Wednesday.

Whitko SB Bests Wawasee For Tourney Title

SYRACUSE – Ellie Snep pitched a complete game one-hitter, and allowed none after the third inning, helping Whitko’s softball team beat Wawasee 4-2 in the championship game of the Wawasee Invitational Saturday.
Anna Ousley doubled for one of Whitko’s three hits in the title game. Snep had an RBI single that padded a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning.
Snep went the distance in the Lady Wildcats’ 8-1 win over South Bend Clay in the semifinals. Wawasee  beat Rochester by the same score in its semifinal.
Whitko returns to Three Rivers Conference play today, hosting Tippecanoe Valley. The Lady Warriors travel to Middlebury to take on Northridge today.

Whitko 8th, Wawasee 10th At Goshen Relays
GOSHEN – Whitko’s Gavin Howard and Conner Sherwin finished 1-2 in the discus, helping lead the Wildcats to an eighth-place finish in Class B of Saturday’s Goshen Relays.
Wawasee’s 4x400 relay team of Eric Yankosky, Keyan Peete, Luke Griner and Sam Griner won in 3:38.47. It was the Warriors’ only first-place finish in an event, and Wawasee took 10th in the team standings.
Howard also won the shot put for Whitko. He was tabbed the high point scorer in Class B. His father, Glen, won the same two events and high-point honor at the same meet 27 years ago.
Wawasee got points from the 4x800 relay team of the Griner brothers, Spencer Hare and Michael Hammer, who placed second. Elisha Tipping had a seventh-place finish in the discus.
Whitko travels to Manchester for a meet with Northfield and Lakeland Christian on Tuesday. Wawasee will host NorthWood in a Northern Lakes Conference meet Wednesday.

Lady Warriors Win Duals Tourney At Home
SYRACUSE – Wawasee earned a trio of 5-0 girls tennis wins over Prairie Heights, Southwood and Columbia City to win the Wawasee Super Duals tournament Saturday.
The weekend marked the return of sophomore Meg Heinisch to the No. 1 singles spot, and that helped Wawasee to the sweep.
In the 14 matches the Lady Warriors played (one win came by forfeit), only one went three sets.
Wawasee returns to Northern Lakes Conference play at Northridge Tuesday.

Warriors Split In Tourney
SYRACUSE – Wawasee split the two games it hosted in its baseball tournament on Saturday, beating Heritage 6-5 and falling 2-0 to Lowell.
The Warriors rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Heritage, with Jairus Boyer getting a two-run single for the game winner. Gavin Barker had three hits and Jake Crousore got the win with 2-1/3 of shutout pitching in relief.
Playing as the home team, Lowell scored the only two runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Rylan Kuhn had a pair of singles for Wawasee, and Josh Slabaugh was the tough-luck loser on the mound.
Wawasee (5-6) hosts Northridge in a Northern Lakes Conference game today.

Squires Come Back For 7-5 Win Over Eagles
CHURUBUSCO – After trailing 2-1 early and 3-2 late, Manchester plated four runs in the top of the seventh to earn a 7-5 win over host Churubusco in a non-conference baseball game Saturday.
Hayes Sturtsman had a pair of doubles among his three hits and drove in four runs. Mason Meyer had a pair of hits, and Jeremiah Airgood and Kane Gable had a hit and an RBI each.
Now 7-2 overall, the Squires will host Rochester in a Three Rivers Conference game today.

Lady Squires Split DH
NORTH MANCHESTER – Brooklyn Howard struck out seven Columbia City hitters, and Erika Kendall drove in two runs in a 3-0 Manchester softball win, and a split of a Saturday doubleheader.
The visiting Lady Eagles scored three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth for a 6-4 win in the first game. It was Manchester’s first loss of the season.
The Lady Squires (8-1) host Rochester in Three Rivers Conference play today.

Lady Squire Tennis Splits In Muncie Central Tourney
MUNCIE – Manchester’s girls tennis team beat the host school 5-0 in the semifinals of the Muncie Central Invitational Saturday, but suffered its first loss of the season in the final 4-2 to Mississinewa.
In the opening match the Lady Squires didn’t lose more than four games on any one court on their way to five straight-set wins. Bethany Collette and Lydia Little blanked their opponent at No. 1 doubles.
In the Mississinewa match, Leiah Brandenburg won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles over Maggie Herring. At No. 2 doubles, Lauren Metzger and Lotte van der Ven won 6-1, 6-4 over Heavyn Miller and Abigail Tignor.
Now 5-1 overall, Manchester travels to Rochester for a Three Rivers Conference match today.

Lady Viking Tennis 1-2 At Bremen Tourney
BREMEN – Tippecanoe Valley’s girls tennis team beat North Judson 3-2 and lost matches 5-0 to Wabash and host Bremen in the Bremen Invitational Tournament Saturday.
Lea Stouder beat North Judson’s Ashlyn Householder 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and MaKenna Bradley won 6-3, 7-5 over Kayla Rossa at No. 2 singles. Tiphanie Hodge won by forfeit at No. 3 singles.
Valley will play a Three Rivers Conference match at Peru Tuesday.

Valley Baseball Splits
KOKOMO – Tippecanoe Valley’s baseball team dropped the first game of a twinbill with Taylor 2-1 on a walkoff single, but came back to win the second game 7-5 and get a split in non-conference play Saturday.
Ethan Yates was the tough-luck losing pitcher in game one, going 6-1/3 innings and allowing just three hits and no earned runs. Tanner Trippiedi went 5-2/3 in the second game and got the win. Alec Craig, Trippiedi, Adam Myers and Tucker Shull had multiple hits in the game for Valley.
The Vikings return to Three Rivers Conference play today with a game at Whitko.

Valley SB Blanked Twice
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley was shut out in both ends of a softball doubleheader Saturday, with visiting South Adams taking the first game 8-0 and the second game 11-0 in five innings.
The Lady Vikings were held to three hits on the day; Kaitlin Shepherd had a single in the opener, and Ally Betten and Madi Francis had singles in the second game.
Valley will play a Three Rivers Conference game at Whitko at 5 p.m. today.

Lady Tigers Blank Concordia
FORT WAYNE – Warsaw didn’t drop a set in blanking host Fort Wayne Concordia 5-0 in a non-conference girls tennis match Friday.
Liza Lewis and Ella Knight each won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, while Alyssa Zellers won 6-1. 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Collette Smith and Athena Schlitt won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Rachel Yeager and Libby Jenkins won 6-3, 7-5 in their match.
Warsaw’s junior varsity on six of nine matches played.
The Lady Tigers will host Ft Wayne Carroll at 5 p.m. today.

In the Mississinewa match, Leiah Brandenburg won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles over Maggie Herring. At No. 2 doubles, Lauren Metzger and Lotte van der Ven won 6-1, 6-4 over Heavyn Miller and Abigail Tignor.
Now 5-1 overall, Manchester travels to Rochester for a Three Rivers Conference match today.

Lady Viking Tennis 1-2 At Bremen Tourney
BREMEN – Tippecanoe Valley’s girls tennis team beat North Judson 3-2 and lost matches 5-0 to Wabash and host Bremen in the Bremen Invitational Tournament Saturday.
Lea Stouder beat North Judson’s Ashlyn Householder 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and MaKenna Bradley won 6-3, 7-5 over Kayla Rossa at No. 2 singles. Tiphanie Hodge won by forfeit at No. 3 singles.
Valley will play a Three Rivers Conference match at Peru Tuesday.

Valley Baseball Splits
KOKOMO – Tippecanoe Valley’s baseball team dropped the first game of a twinbill with Taylor 2-1 on a walkoff single, but came back to win the second game 7-5 and get a split in non-conference play Saturday.
Ethan Yates was the tough-luck losing pitcher in game one, going 6-1/3 innings and allowing just three hits and no earned runs. Tanner Trippiedi went 5-2/3 in the second game and got the win. Alec Craig, Trippiedi, Adam Myers and Tucker Shull had multiple hits in the game for Valley.
The Vikings return to Three Rivers Conference play today with a game at Whitko.

Valley SB Blanked Twice
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley was shut out in both ends of a softball doubleheader Saturday, with visiting South Adams taking the first game 8-0 and the second game 11-0 in five innings.
The Lady Vikings were held to three hits on the day; Kaitlin Shepherd had a single in the opener, and Ally Betten and Madi Francis had singles in the second game.
Valley will play a Three Rivers Conference game at Whitko at 5 p.m. today.

Lady Tigers Blank Concordia
FORT WAYNE – Warsaw didn’t drop a set in blanking host Fort Wayne Concordia 5-0 in a non-conference girls tennis match Friday.
Liza Lewis and Ella Knight each won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, while Alyssa Zellers won 6-1. 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Collette Smith and Athena Schlitt won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Rachel Yeager and Libby Jenkins won 6-3, 7-5 in their match.
Warsaw’s junior varsity on six of nine matches played.
The Lady Tigers will host Ft Wayne Carroll at 5 p.m. today.
