Battery Charges Filed In Alleged Attack On Girlfriend

Police arrested a Milford man Saturday in connection with multiple incidents of battery.
John Shepherd, 25, of 4282 W. CR 900N, faces multiple counts after police allege he attacked his girlfriend several times in January.
Shepherd has been charged with one count each of felony strangulation, domestic battery causing serious bodily injury and domestic battery with a child under 16 present, and three counts of misdemeanor domestic battery.
On Jan 4. Kosciusko?County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a 911 call where a female screamed and hung up.
Police traced the call to  West Haven Trailer Park, Warsaw. They found a woman with a bruise around her right eye. A witness told police they pulled Shepherd off the woman as he was punching her in the face.
The woman told police Shepherd had become angry with her and chased her around the house, screaming at her. She called 911 but he ripped the phone out of her hand and started punching her in the face, court documents state.
While meeting with her, the woman told police Shepherd had assaulted her on New Year’s Day with her children watching.
She said Shepherd and her were arguing and he began to hit her in the legs and body. Her child said, “No, Daddy, no, Daddy, “ as Shepherd hit the woman, according to charging documents.
Police say a separate incident involving the same victim occurred Jan. 18.
A KCSD deputy met with the victim. The woman told police she was sleeping, and Shepherd jumped on her and began to punch  her in the face and bite her on her arms, court records state.
The woman tried to get her cellphone, but Shepherd began to choke her. She told police she remembered Shepherd dragging her back in to the bedroom and she would go in and out of consciousness. She said Shepherd got a phone call, and she was able to escape to the Beaman Home.
Warrants were issued for Shepherd’s arrest on Jan. 20 and he was arrested Saturday.
As of this morning, he is  being held in the Kosciusko?County Jail on a $16,000 bond.
