John E. Hanish, 81, Beaver Dam, Claypool, passed away at 3:08 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. He was born June 29, 1935, in Hammond, to Chuck and Myrtle Shavey Hanish. He married Dorothy Hoagland on Dec. 14, 1968, in Crown Point. He was an assembler for Ford Motor Co. in Chicago Heights, Ill., for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Beaver Dam and Loon Lake Conservation Club and an avid fisherman. He loved to hunt and enjoyed landscaping his yard. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Hanish, Beaver Dam, Claypool; five daughters: Sharon Prentice, Hobart; Roxanne (Mike) Collins, Woodleaf, N.C.; Minnie (Kevin) Trump, Warsaw; Melinda (Mark) Opachan, Honolulu, Hawaii; and Beth Ann (Mario) Valtierra, Lowell; three sons: Ray Hanish, Claypool; Ron Furst, Crown Point; and John (Rhonda) Hanish, Jasonville; a son-in-law, Troy Denton, Akron; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene McHugh, Valparaiso; and a brother, David Hanish, Hammond. He was preceded by a daughter, Jennifer Hanish, July 18, 2016; and three brothers: Carl Hanish, Don Hanish and Kenneth Hanish. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Bollenbacher, chaplain, Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw, officiating. ***** Memorials to Beaver Dam and Loon Lake Conservation Club,7271 West Bensart Drive, Claypool, IN 46510.
