Lady Tigers Trip Concord, Memorial In NLC Meet; Streak Extended

DUNLAP – Warsaw stayed unbeaten in the 2017 girls track season with a pair of Northern Lakes conference wins Tuesday; 103-29 over Elkhart Memorial and 91-41 over host Concord.
The wins extended the Lady Tiger conference win streak to 57 meets, dating back to the 2009 season.
Anna Craig was a double winner for the Lady Tigers, taking the 800 and 1,600-meter runs. Other Warsaw winners were: Abbi Curtis in the 200,  Charlene Orr in the 3,200, Caitlin Kehler the pole vault, Kendall Menzie in the long jump, Page Desenberg the shot put, and Lynae Dawson in the discus.
The 4x100 relay team of Shunterra Davis, Maygan Bellamy, Curtis and Makayla Clampitt won in 50.06 seconds. The 4x400 relay team of Bellamy, Ellie Klotz, Dayton Groninger and Remi Beckham broke the tape in 4:13.61. In the 4x800 relay, Craig, Taylor Gunter, Allison Miller, and Mia Beckham won in 10:00.94.
Now 5-0 in dual meets, and 4-0 in the NLC, the Lady Tigers will go to Indianapolis to compete in the Southport Relays Saturday. Their next conference meet will be Tuesday against NorthWood and host Wawasee.

Plymouth Edges Warsaw In Conference Match
Alyssa Zellers won at No. 3 singles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Mary Blake and Leah Smith won a three-set match, but Warsaw fell 3-2 to visiting Plymouth in a Northern Lakes Conference match Tuesday.
Liza Lewis dropped a tough two-set match at No. 1 singles, and Collette Smith and Athena Schlitt lost in three sets at No. 1 doubles.
The Warsaw junior varsity won 12 of 13 matches over the Lady Pilgrims.
The Lady Tigers resume NLC play today, hosting Northridge at 5 p.m.

Trojans Down Oregon-Davis
HAMLET – Dylan Hensley had two hits, including a double, and Max Slusser tripled and drove in a pair of runs for Triton in its 7-2 non-conference baseball win at Oregon-Davis Tuesday.
Nate Flenar was the winning pitcher, tossing four innings of three-hit ball and striking out eight. Ryan Snyder allowed one run in an inning of work, and Connor Pitney closed things out with two shutout innings. Adam Stevens doubled, scored a run and drove in another for the Trojans.
Triton will host Caston in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference game Thursday.

Sixth Frame Propels Lady Squires To Home Victory
NORTH MANCHESTER – Trailing 3-1 after five innings, Manchester plated six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Adams Central 7-3 in a non-conference softball game Tuesday.
Brooklyn Howard and Kiera Stacy had two hits each, and Erika Kendall and Stacy each drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Squires.
After giving up three runs in the first inning, Mattie McKee settled in and got the complete-game win from the circle.
Now 6-0 this season, Manchester will host Wabash in a Three Rivers Conference clash at 5 p.m. today.

Manchester Girls Tennis Blanks Lady Braves
BUNKER HILL – In a match closer than the team score shows, Manchester earned a 5-0 win over host Maconaquah in a Three Rivers Conference girls tennis match Tuesday.
Karly Eichenauer needed three sets to win at No. 1 singles, and Leiah Brandenberg used a first-set tiebreaker on her way to a two-set victory. At No. 1 doubles, Bethany Collette and Lydia Little used a second-set tiebreaker to wrap up their win.
Kelsey Eichenauer at No. 2 singles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Kendra Auler and Elizabeth Anguilm won in straight sets.
The Lady Squire junior varsity also won 5-0.
Now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the TRC, Manchester has another TRC match today at Northfield.

Vikings Win Track Meet
WABASH – Tippecanoe Valley picked up two Northern Lakes Conference boys track wins Tuesday. The Vikings’ 73 points were better than Northfield’s 44 and Wabash’s 28 points.
Results for the girls meet were not available as of press time.
Jared Mikel won the 110 and 300 hurdles for Valley. Other winners for the Vikings were; Jonathan Humes, long jump; Justin Peconga; high jump; Jameson Baker, shot put; Will Hassenplug, discus; and Dakota Parker, 400.
Valley will run in the North Miami Warrior Relays on Friday.

Lady Eagles Beat Valley
AKRON – Kayla Scott had a home run and a double among her three hits, and Tippecanoe Valley had 12 hits total in a 15-5 non-conference softball loss to visiting Culver Academies Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles led 4-2 before scoring six times in the fifth inning, then added five more runs across the final two frames.
The Lady Vikings play at North Miami in Three Rivers Conference play today.
Three Lady Vikes GBB Players Selected For Showcase
INDIANAPOLIS – Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball players Sophie Bussard, Emily Peterson and Addy Miller were selected to participate in the Indiana Basketball Coaches Top 100 Underclassmen Showcase. The event will be held at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis July 11.

Warriors Down Central Noble
SYRACUSE – All five Wawasee boys golfers  shot 48 or better in the Warriors’ 179-232 win over visiting Central Noble at South Shore Golf Club Tuesday.
Zach Leedy led the way with a 41, while Jared Krugman shot a 44. Cameron Brill and Dillon Drake each posted 47s, and Kobe Jones recorded a 48.
“We played a little better tonight,” said Wawasee coach Steve Coverstone. “We actually had three good scores in our third, fourth and fifth positions through five holes, but we let it slip a little bit.”
Next up for Wawasee is the Whitko Invitational at North Manchester’s Sycamore Golf Club Saturday.

Lady Warriors Fall In NLC Meet
PLYMOUTH – While exact scores and results weren’t available as of press time, Wawasee’s girls track team lost twice in a Northern Lakes Conference meet Tuesday to Goshen and host Plymouth.
Highlights for the Lady Warriors were Jada Parzygnot setting s school record of 10-0 in the pole vault, and Elizabeth Zorn was a double winner, taking the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs. Hannah-Marie Lamle won the long jump, and Zorn, Kenzie Smith, Lila Gregory and Caitlin Wortinger teamed to win the 4x800 relay.
The Lady Warriors will compete in the Turtletown Relays in Churubusco on Saturday.
