The appropriation from council will be used for various repairs at the Bell Memorial Public Library.
The additional appropriation was approved unanimously by county council.
The library’s director, Stephen Boggs, said the money brings the library’s rainy day fund back up to the prefered level of $25,000 for emergencies.
Boggs explained some of the upcoming projects that will be funded in part from the appropriation.
He said they want to replace the library’s email server by using a cloud-based system and upgrade the library’s circulation system.
The air conditioning and heating also needs repair, he said.
The teen room, which includes books, games and internet access, opened about a year ago, but lacks sufficient heating.
The library is at 101. W. Main St.
In other matters, council:
• Approved an $8,825 appropriation to the sheriff’s department for a vehicle repair.
• Approved plans by the emergency management department to seek grant money for $27,360 to be used for training.
