LIGONIER – The Whitko girls tennis team opened its season with a 4-1 win at West Noble Monday evening.
The Lady Wildcats’ Morgan Keirn beat Megan Godfrey 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Delaney Keirn won over the Lady Chargers’  Kellie Waring 6-1, 6-1. Jackie Werstler downed Kaity VanVorst at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0.
The No. 2  doubles team of Jenna VanCuren and Manon Sonneville won a three-setter 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3.
In junior varsity play, Natalie Iholtz defeated Maria Guajardo 6-2 at No. 1 singles. It was Whitko’s only win at the JV level.
The Lady Wildcats are back in action at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Maconaquah.
