He was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Wabash, to Lavon V. Hildenbrand Amiss and James H. Amiss.
He was a 1952 graduate of Laketon High School.
On June 6, 1993, he married Marjorie E. Banghart in Warsaw.
He was inducted into the U.S. Navy on Dec. 2, 1955, and was stationed on Whidbey Island, Washington. He was an aviation structural mechanic; AM3 Mack Eugene Amiss was honorably discharged through Whidbey Island on Aug. 30, 1957.
He lived in Warsaw and was employed by Da-Lite Screen for more than 30 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Warsaw Masonic Lodge No. 73 F. & AM for over 50 years; 35-year member of the American Legion Post 402, Laketon; member of Collamer First church of God.
He had a good sense of humor, had a strong work ethic, enjoyed farming and animals – especially dogs. He also enjoyed woodworking, making bird houses and listening to country mustic. He loved his family immensely.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Marjorie Amiss, Warsaw; four sons: Shanon (Rebecca) Amiss, Claypool; Jeff Amiss, Carmel; Michael (Suzanne) Amiss, Carmel; Ted Harrell, Warsaw; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Casandra) Amiss, North Manchester; and one sister, Patricia (Max) Weller, Roann.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Service will be at noon Monday at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Pfeiffer, Warsaw Community Church, Warsaw. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Military graveside services will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
