Jeannette Louise Drawbaugh, Warsaw, passed away surrounded by family at 10:25 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse, at the age of 78.
She was the first child of Walter August Hahn and Irene Alma Bertram Hahn and was born on Oct. 29, 1938, in Fort Wayne.
The covenant of God’s grace through holy baptism was bestowed upon her on Nov. 20, 1938, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne.
The covenant of God’s grace was affirmed by Jeannette in her confirmation on May 25, 1952, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Psalm 145: 18-19 are her confirmation verses: “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.”
The goodness of God’s grace was given to her on Nov. 30, 1963, when she was joined in holy marriage to Galen Drawbaugh at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Naomi Joy, Timothy Galen and Faith Jeannine.
Following her husband’s ordination into the ministry of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, she and her husband served congregations in Drayton Valley and Tomahawk in Alberta, Canada; Sylvania, Ohio; and Milwaukee and Mayville, Wis. They served several congregations as an intentional interim pastor in Iowa, Michigan and Indiana following her husband’s retirement, during which he also served as the Indiana District’s coordinator of intentional interim ministries.
The coronation of God’s grace was given to her on March 31, when the Lord bestowed upon her the crown of everlasting life which he promised Jeannette in her baptism when he said, “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee the crown of life.”
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Galen Drawbaugh, Warsaw; son, Timothy Drawbaugh (wife Chikako), Tokyo, Japan; and two daughters, Naomi Beale (husband Terry), Portland, Ore. and Faith Doyle (husband Tony), Warsaw. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Lindsay, Luke and Jared Beale; Joshua Drawbaugh; and Adam, Sarah and Rachel Doyle; a brother, Dennis Hahn (wife Janet), Northfield, Minn.; and her sister, Jane Turnbow (husband Bob), Loudon, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by one granddaughter, Christine Hope Beale, in 1994.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 3, 2017, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and an hour prior to the service on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw.
