HS Roundup: Lady Tigers Fall To Northridge In Bid For Conference Crown
By Staff Report-
Delaney Taylor stakeed the Lady Tigers to a lead with an unassisted goal in the first half, and the match was tied at halftime before the Lady Raiders won it with a second-half goal.
“I know that our girls played with all of their hearts tonight. That wasn’t in question during the match,” Warsaw head coach Peter Lucht said. “If we had combined the intensity that was there with better execution and decision making, it could have been a different result.
“But it doesn’t do us any good to worry now about what could have been. It’s done. Instead of worrying about it, I hope that it drives us to be better; to combine our hearts with our heads. That’s when we are a dangerous team.
“Moving forward into tournament play, that’s the message I want our girls to remember. If we are only playing with our hearts, even at 100 percent, it’s not enough to beat really good teams. We must play with our hearts and our heads.”
Warsaw finished NLC play with a 6-1 record.
The junior varsity game was won 5-0 by the Lady Raiders.
The Lady Tigers take a 13-4 overall record into the Warsaw Sectional, where they will take on Culver Academies, the same team that ended the Lady Tigers’ season last year. Kickoff is set of 6 p.m. Tuesday.
