North Manchester Bicentennial Activities Set For Saturday

NORTH MANCHESTER ­– The Center For History  has planned its bicentennial celebration for the town’s Harvest Festival on Saturday.
During the Harvest Festival, Center for History staff will be collecting names for the Timeline of Wabash County Bicentennial project. All residents of Wabash County are asked to tell their name, the name of their first ancestor to settle in Wabash County and when that ancestor arrived. Almost 200 names already appear in the center’s front window display.
Admission to the center will be free from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The museum contains 9,000 square feet of exhibit space with thousands of objects and photographs on display. New this year are a replica of a pioneer cabin, items found in the time capsule buried at Maple Park School and a display on the Center for History’s newly restored façade.
The center is planning several games, including hopscotch, skittles, dominos and corn hole. Scavenger hunts for students and adults are also planned.
Other features include an Indiana Historical Society traveling exhibit, two historical society movies and free admission to the Thomas Marshall House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Marshall House is on Market Street next to the library.
