PLYMOUTH – Senior quarterback Tyler Smith threw for 106 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 76 yards, in Wawasee’s 33-16 Northern Lakes Conference loss at Plymouth Friday night.
The Warriors outgained the Rockies 314-309, had three more first downs and two fewer turnovers.
Michael Katzer scored a first-quarter touchdown, and Smith found Jacob Hand for a 46-yard touchdown pass in the second period. Dylan Hepler intercepted a Plymouth pass, and Wawasee recovered two Plymouth fumbles.
Wawasee fell to 3-3 overall, 1-3 in the conference, and hosts Warsaw for homecoming Friday night.

Whitko Suffers First Loss
SOUTH WHITLEY – Southwood quarterback Carson Blair passed for 453 yards and four touchdowns in the Knight’s 52-35 win over 2A No. 8 Whitko in Three Rivers Conference play Friday night.
The Wildcats’ Hunter Reed carried the ball 45 times for 219 yards and three touchdowns. Garrett Elder had 15 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown. He now has 1,097 yards in six games this season.
Whitko is now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the TRC. The Wildcats will travel to Manchester Friday night.
