HS Roundup: Tippecanoe Valley Boys Tennis Edges Manchester, 3-2

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley had wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, and at No. 2 doubles, to take a 3-2 Three Rivers Conference win over visiting Manchester Thursday evening.
The Vikings’ Keith Wright beat Luke Donathan in straight sets, as did Eric Wright at No. 3 singles over Logan Parrett. Valley’s Chris Schipper and Dylan Sponseller needed a second-set tiebreaker to beat Kyle Shepherd and Uria Hein.
The Squires’ Spence Trick had a three-set win over Seth Hoffman at No. 2 singles, and Heath Dierks and Parker Wagoner won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles for Manchester over Dakota Parker and Garrett Feldman.
Manchester (4-8, 1-4 TRC) travels to Rochester for its final regular-season match. Tippecanoe Valley enters the Warsaw Sectional having won five of its last six matches. The draw for the tourney will be held Monday morning, and begin on Wednesday.

Tigers Fall In Semifinals Of Conference Tourney
Warsaw’s tennis team had four positions advance to the Thursday’s semifinals of the Northern Lakes Conference boys tennis tournament, but only one will play for a conference championship on Saturday at the Tigers’ courts.
Top-seeded Hayden Steger and Spencer Britton will play for the No. 2 doubles title after beating Diego Torres and Nathaniel Wertz of Goshen. The Tiger duo will take on second-seeded Freddy Buckingham and Jake Lovette of Concord for the title.
Andrew Gauger lost at No. 2 singles to top-seeded Simon Grevengood of Northridge. He will take on Hugh Birky of Goshen in the third-place match Saturday.
At No. 3 singles, David Homme lost a second-set tiebreaker and his match with Concord’s Nate Slabach 6-3, 7-6. Homme will play Plymouth’s Zach Moser for third place.
Tiger seniors Justin Stout and Ryan Wettschurack lost to top-seeds Logan Troyer and Bobby Sessa of Goshen at No. 1 doubles. The Warsaw duo takes on brothers Travis and nate Hermon of Concord for third place.
Of Wawasee’s five entries, Nathan Perek claimed the lone Warrior win, beating NorthWood’s Landon Holland 7-6, 7-6 in the consolation semifinals at No. 2 singles. Perek will play Northridge’s Gabe Rodino for fifth place on Saturday. The other Warrior entries will vie for seventh place.
Saturday’s matches begin at 9 a.m. at the WCHS courts.
Triton Falls Shy In Conference Tennis Finals
KNOX – Triton’s boys tennis team lost all three of its conference championship matches in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference tournament Thursday at Knox High School.
Mace Eads fell in three sets to Knox’s Eian Coad at No. 1 singles. Carter Kuntz lost in two tightly-contested sets, 7-6, 7-5, to Knox’s Jacob Heineman at No. 3 singles. Keygan Mosier and Chase Butler fell in straight sets at No. 1 doubles.
Aaron Stichter took third after a 10-8 win ver LaVille’s Shawn Horne at No. 2 singles, and the Trojans’ Tyler Hackaman and Jared Bules earned a third-place finish with a 10-7 win over North Judson’s Conner Carlisle and Dan Clingaman.
Knox won championships at all five positions and claimed the entire All-HNAC team.
Triton opens play in the Bremen Sectional next week, with the draw on Monday.
Lady Viking VB Earns Conference Sweep Over Northfield
WABASH – Sophie Bussard had 12 kills and 11 digs, and Emily Peterson added 30 assists in Tippecanoe Valley’s 25-12, 25-10, 25-15 sweep of host Northfield in Three Rivers Conference volleyball Thursday.
Shayleigh Shriver had five aces, and Makenzie Woodcox was credited with 1.5 blocks in the Lady Viking victory.
Valley won the junior varsity match 25-23, 25-16 over the Lady Norse. Amy Baca had four kills, Allison Miller had six digs, Sarah Myers had 10 assists, with Miller, Hannah Jansma and Allison Betten getting two aces each.
Tippecanoe Valley improved to 13-7 overall and 2-3 in the TRC. The Lady Vikings host Oak Hill in a non-conference match on Monday.
Triton Sweeps Argos
BOURBON – Nicole Sechrist had 10 kills, with Quinn Downing adding 11 aces and 11 digs in Triton’s 25-7, 25-2, 25-5 non-conference rout of visiting Argos in the Trojan Trench Thursday.
Hannah Wanemacher added 14 assists for the Lady Trojans.
The Triton junior varsity cruised to a 25-4, 25-3 win over the Lady Dragons.
Triton will play in the Bremen Tournament on Saturday.
Lady Squires Fall In Five To Maconaquah
NORTH MANCHESTER – Kendra Auler had eight kills, 21 assists, six aces and three digs for Manchester in its 21-25, 17-25, 25-19, 25-11, 15-10 loss to visiting Maconaquah in Three Rivers Conference volleyball Thursday.
Kennedy Rosen had four aces, three kills and three digs for the Lady Squires, and Sydney Day had 12 digs, three kills and an ace.
The Lady Squire junior varsity won its match 25-22, 24-25, 15-14. Kara Kline had nine digs and five kills, Halie Wampler had six assists, Lydia Greer had a pair of aces in the match.
Manchester will host Southwood in a TRC match Tuesday.
Whitko VB Falls
SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko’s volleyball team was swept by visiting Hamilton, 25-23, 25-16, 25-18, Thursday evening.
The Lady Wildcats, 16-7, host?Whitley County rival Columbia City in a non-conference match Monday.

GOSHEN – Blake Burns scored a goal, and Eric Ocock scored on a penalty kick for visiting Warsaw in its 4-2 Northern Lakes Conference loss to No. 6 Goshen Thursday evening.
The Tiger junior varsity won its match 2-0 over the RedHawks. Jorge Rico and Jacob LaLonde scored for Warsaw, and the JV improved its record to 7-2, 3-2 in the NLC.
Warsaw (4-8-2, 1-4 NLC) hosts Wawasee Saturday, with kickoff set for 2:45 p.m.
