After the three singles matches were complete, the Squires trailed Triton 2-1, as the host Trojans scored wins with senior Mace Eads at No. 1 singles and sophomore Carter Kuntz at No. 3 singles.
Squires sophomore Spence Trick was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 2 singles.
Manchester evened the team score when sophomores Kyle Shepherd and Uria Hein beat Triton freshmen Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles, where the Trojans were without the injured Grant Eib.
In the decisive match, the Squires’ duo of senior Heath Dierks and junior Parker Wagoner beat Triton junior Keygan Mosier and sophomore Chase Butler 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
“The range of tennis ability for Dierks and Wagoner is remarkable,” said Manchester coach Eric Screeton. “They can play very high tennis at times, and very low tennis at times, however, we are starting to see that high level of tennis more and more. Their consistency is improving, and when playing well, they can compete with anybody.
“I am super proud of this No. 1 doubles team as they continue to play better each time out.”
The victory was the first on the road this season for Manchester, as the Squires improved to 4-6 and extended their win streak to three matches.
Triton fell to 7-9 on the season. The Trojans will be in action again Thursday at Knox in the first round of the HNAC Tournament.
The Squires play TRC rival and defending conference and sectional champion Peru today at 5 p.m.
