He was born April 7, 1946, in Fort Wayne, to Otto and Blanche Witzigreuter Gallmeier. On Aug. 30, 1969, he married Patricia Denny, who preceded him in 2015.
He grew up in the Fort Wayne area and moved to Syracuse in 1969. He retired from the Syracuse Police Department after 13 years, and the Wawasee Community School Corp. after 20-plus years of service.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Milford Masonic Lodge and North Webster American Legion Post 253.
He is survived by two daughters, Amy (and spouse Travis) Ball, Syracuse, and Cynthia (and spouse Christopher) Hochstetler, Howe; a son, Danny (and spouse Shadow) Gallmeier Jr., Churubusco; five grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn (and spouse David) Mueller, Fort Wayne. He was preceded by his wife, parents, a sister and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, with pastors Brad Cox and Harlan Steffen officiating.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Eastlund Funeral Home.
