Ellabelle Carr, 85, a lifetime resident of Syracuse, passed away Sept. 18, 2016, with her devoted husband by her side.
She was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Kosciusko County, to Theries D. and Minnie A. Simon Doll. She was married to Jack M. Carr on June 28, 1952.
She graduated from Syracuse High School and was a member of the Eastern Star and Calvary United Methodist Church. She managed the Weatherhead and Dana Credit Union for many years until she retired.
She loved to be outdoors and cherished her family and "many" pets. Some of the best advice she gave her children was "Keep your ceiling fan moving so no one can see the dirt" and "Never learn how to clean fish."
She is survived by her husband; three children: Christie (and spouse Dennis) Schanlaub, Connie (and spouse John) Yadon and Carol Carr; three grandchildren: Christopher Mays, Neil Pilgrim and Emily Pilgrim; two great-grandchildren, Izabella and Reed Mays; and a brother, Arnold (and spouse Pete) Doll. She was preceded by her oldest daughter, Caron Pilgrim; and two brothers, Elvin Doll and Herman Doll.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Eastlund Funeral Home, with Pastor David Henry officiating.
Friends may call from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
