He was born Jan. 13, 1929, to Ellis W. and Lela Cox Graham in Adel, Iowa. On May 26, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mary Bernice Grove, who preceded him in death in 2002.
He was a graduate of Bristol High School, class of 1946. He was a United States Marine, serving during the Korean conflict from Sept. 30, 1946, to Sept. 11, 1951, receiving the rank of sergeant. He retired from United Telephone Co. after 38 years of service.
He served on the Leesburg School Board. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 49, Warsaw. He was an original member of the Rozella Ford Golf Course and a lifetime avid golfer.
He is survived by his children: M. Lane Brooks, New Palestine; Gina (and spouse Max) Deatsman, Leesburg; and Lisa (and spouse Michael) Bonahoom, Warsaw; grandchildren: Dawn D. (and spouse Byron) Baltzell; Brian (and spouse Janelle) Deatsman; Renee (and spouse Quentin) Overbeck; Heather Bonahoom (and spouse Casey) Brooks; and Katrina (and spouse Kenneth) White; three great-grandsons; and five great-granddaughters. He also was preceded by his parents; a brother, Brenton Graham; and a sister, Margaret Pelz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Milford, with military honors by American Legion Post 49, VFW Post 1126 and the Indiana Funeral Honor Guard.
Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
