HS Roundup: Whitko Takes Wawasee Invitational

Top performers for the Wildcats were Kaity Reed with 58 kills and eight blocks, Kristina Slater with 46 digs and six aces, and Haley Yohe with 99 assists.
The Lady Wildcats didn't drop a set in the tournament. Wawasee results for the tourney were not available as of press time.
Whitko is now 14-5 for the season, and will host Wawasee at 7:30 p.m. today.
Whitko Runs At West Noble
LIGONIER – The Whitko boys and girls cross country teams ran in the West Noble Invitational Saturday.
The Lady Wildcats fielded a full team for the first time since August 2013. Freshman Sarah Walters was 72nd, Hanna Yohe was 93rd, Amanda Leppek was 159th, Manon Sonneville 211th, Angel Moyer 213th and Lizz Foutz 234th of 248 runners.
The Wildcat boys didn’t field a full team. Junior Logan Busz was 59th, Zack Freel 92nd, Ezra Miller 115th and Caden Compton 148th.
The teams are back in action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in a dual meet against Rochester at Whitko Middle School.
Lady Tigers 5th at Michigan City Invite
MICHIGAN CITY – Warsaw’s volleyball team finished fifth Saturday, splitting four matches at the Michigan City Invitational.
The Lady Tigers defeated Concord: 27-25, 25-22; lost to Fort Wayne Concordia 22-25, 25-15, 13-15 and Valparaiso 17-25, 20-25 before beating Mishawaka 25-22, 25-21.
Nikki Parrett had 34 kills and 12 aces for Warsaw. Erin Peugh had 51 digs, Kacy Bragg was credited with 80 assists, and Hanna Leach had five blocks.
The Lady Tigers (11-10) return to the court Tuesday at Fort Wayne Carroll.
Lady ‘Cats Fall
SOUTH WHITLEY – North Miami scored two goals in the first half and four more in the second to defeat Whitko 6-0 in Three Rivers Conference girls soccer Saturday.
Whitko plays a non-conference match at Garrett, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. today.
Whitko Drops TRC Match To N. Miami
SOUTH WHITLEY – Devin Goggin recorded 14 saves in Whitko’s 2-0 loss to visiting North Miami in Three Rivers Conference boys soccer Saturday.
The Wildcats host Tippecanoe Valley at 5 p.m. today.
Triton 8th In Tourney
PORTAGE – Mace Eads and Keygan Mosier were paired together for the first time this season and finished sixth for Triton in No. 1 doubles at the Portage Invitational boys tennis tournament Saturday. The Trojans finished eighth as a team.
Triton hosts Manchester at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Tigers Take Down Northside, 4-2
Eric Ocock scored Warsaw’s first two goals, while Garrett Reinholt and Cole Voss found the net after halftime to lead the Tigers past visiting Fort Wayne North Side 4-2 in a non-conference boys soccer match Saturday.
The Tiger C-team fell 4-0 to North Side.
Warsaw (4-6-2) plays at?Fort Wayne Canterbury Tuesday.
Squires Win Over Snider, 2-1
FORT WAYNE – David Kruschwitz scored twice for visiting Manchester in a 2-1 win at Fort Wayne Snider Saturday. The match had been postponed before Snider athletic officials located a playable field.
Manchester (5-3-1) hosts Lakeland Christian Tuesday.
Cougars Blank GCS
GRANGER – Noah Blum scored twice in Lakeland Christian Academy’s 5-0 win at Granger Christian School Saturday.
Landon Twombly, Theran McKeever and Parker Stewart also scored for the Cougars. Cross Williams had six saves for LCA.
The Cougars (6-3-1) will play at Manchester High School on Tuesday.
